BRASS - Durham International Festival is a creative arts and music festival running in and around Durham City 4 - 19 July 2009. Following the success of BRASS 07 and 08 and still attracting a diverse roster of musicians and artists, this site exists to showcase the alternative sound and soul the event and to encourage debate and participation from our friends.
Most of all, we want to learn - if you are or know of someone we should speak to, or you or your organisation want to be involved, please contact us. Spread the word and get involved!
In addition to the headline events we will be running a festival fringe in a range of venues across County Durham. Mnozil Brass Band - The band shows talent in playing their instruments and being amazing entertainers.
The Commitments - They are not only a movie, they are a trully amazing live band. Check out the live song on their home page.
Portico Quartet - The 2008 Mercury Prize "An album of the year" nominated South London based band will play their classy world music songs on 18 July in Durham.
Top Dog Brass - Their East German mix of funk and R&B is going to blow through Durham's streets as it did last years all over Europe.
Johann Johannsson - The Icelandic composer first show in Durham, but for sure not the last!
