I've posted 7 albums of photos from the DBF 09...check 'em out. Use/abuse any you like. If you don't like anything, let me know and I'll pull them. My camera battery died right before CeDell went onstage so unfortunately I don't have any of the rest of Saturday night performances. mb
Whoa boys- I hope you keep a fire extinguisher handy because you all were smoking the other day. Your CD was the only thing that kept me from losing my mind when we had to leave the festival, it got me as far as the Iowa state line sunday morning then I had to pull over. I hope you make it to Iowa City sometime,or we get a chance to see you again up there soon. All our love--Illinois John Fever

We'll be featuring a different 2009 festival band each day right up through the July events. Today is THE BRASS KINGS
Local boys The Brass Kings are Steve Kaul (guitar/vox), Mikkel Beckmen (washboard/percussion) who is also the washboard player for Minneapolis legend, Charlie Parr and Brad Ptacek (washtub bass). They've taken on the ambitous task of marrying the blues with the unfamiliar yet tantalizing sounds of the middle east. Does it work? I'll quote David de Young of howwastheshow.com, "Live, the music sounds even more unconventional, almost ambient at times, reminiscent of how the Doors might have sounded if they’d been formed in the ancient East and if Robby Krieger had played sitar, as Kaul’s guitar sometimes takes on that tonality in the mix." Perhaps Kaul summed it up best when, from stage, he joked; "We play country music. We’re just not sure which country.”
