  • Bio

    The San Francisco Jazz Mafia has been taking over the Bay Area since it's inception 5 years ago. Bands like Realistic Orchestra, the Shotgun Wedding Quintet and many more have been putting San Francisco back on the map as one of the most important music scenes in the country. The newest addition to the collective is the Mafia Brass. Based on the tried-and-true new Orleans brass ensemble, the Mafia Brass includes Trombone, Trumpet, Saxes, drums and most importantly TUBA! This unique lineup has proven to be highly versatile because it allows the band to perform acoustic and to be mobile and march, which is something that very few bands can do these days. Although the instrumentation of this Brass Band is based on a 100 year old tradition, the sound is based on music from many different decades and many continents. The Mafia Brass puts a strong emphasis on heavy backbeats, creative improvisation and a unique mix of songs and arrangements. The Mafia Brass has proven that they can be a powerful and entertaining Marching Band as well as one of the best "Club" bands, as seen at their regular Wednesday night residency at Boom Boom Room in SF. The Mafia Brass includes some of the most talented young jazz players form the SF Bay Area who have an impressive resume of talent they have performed with: Spearhead, Lyrics Born, Lavay Smith, Bobby McFerrin, Carlos Santana, Idris Muhammed, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Los Angelitos, Jesus Diaz QBA, Marcus Shelby Orchestra, as well as being the backbone of Realistic Orchestra, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet and Cannonball. www.jazzmafia.com www.jazzmafia.com www.jazzmafia.com www.jazzmafia.com .. width="425" height="350">..........>

    To Release isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore.
    It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret.
    It's not about pride and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past.
    It's not about giving in or giving up.
    To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on.
    Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing.
    To release is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh,
    made you cry, and made you grow.
    It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain.
    Letting go is releasing and having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving.
    It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy.
    To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free---

    Brass Mafia, remember that it's easy to let go when holding on
    hurts so bad--so free yourself from all these expectations and just be :-)
    Hope you find the unity in my new single "Release" feat. JRockA.
    So come peep the track! Stay creative and stay connected!!

    ONEness;
    Sarai
