   About The Brass Monkeys Quintet

The Brass Monkeys Quintet (bM5q)
is a versatile five piece brass group based in the South of England.

We enjoy playing all types of music, from Baroque to Blues, Mozart to Musicals (with a healthy dose of Jazz thrown in for good measure!).

Able to create a programme for any occasion, be it a private garden party, wedding or public fundraising concert, we enjoy numerous repeat bookings from satisfied customers such as Royal Holloway (Uni of London) and The Saville Garden (The Crown Estate, Windsor).

Recent years have also seen bM5q develop interactive educational concerts for young audiences. These consist of:

- the history behind and concept of brass instruments;
- the differences between the instruments of the quintet;
- the types of effects (mutes, half-valving etc) and;
- musical styles available to each player.

Each concert finishes with an opportunity for anyone interested to 'have a blow' on some brass instruments (such as cornets).

To hear bM5q, check out our 1998 live recording made at Royal Holloway, or alternatively come along to one of our summer gigs!

For further information on the quintet, or to book us for an event you are organising, please e-mail us at brassmonkeys@btopenworld.com.
