About Brass Wood & Wires: The name is a program! A Brass section, Wood instruments and loads of Wires and cables. The Berliner outer national 6 piece Dub Combo is a bunch of Jazz and Reggae players from all over the place (US/ France/ Germany/ Cyprus/ Israel), all crazy downbeat and delay fetishists who want to dub it live!
Their music is original, inspired by the tradition of Jamaica’s Dub pioneers and leaving open spaces for spherical effect parts, improvisation and more modern beats.
Obwohl Brass Wood & Wires sich selbst als „Dubband“ bezeichnen, fällt es einem schwer, ihre Musik stilistisch einzugrenzen. Die Dub-Annäherung kommt von den vielen Effekten, die live eingesetzt werden; der Freiraum für Solos und Improvisation sowie die Bläsermelodien sind wiederum eher der Jazztradition entnommen und die einzige Regel für die Rhythmen, die von traditionellem Reggae hin zu moderneren Beats reichen- lautet: Groove! So ist es eher diese Vielfalt an Sounds, Grooves und Atmosphären, die der Band ihre Einzigartigkeit verleiht und eins steht fest: so was wie die Musik von Brass Wood & Wires hört man nicht überall!
