The beginning of Brazos Stone may seem to be a tired one, but their sound is far from familiar. The band was started by front-man Brady Ash, who then enlisted three close friends (Bridget Briles, Drew Moses, Monty Scrogum), who are also Throckmorton, TX natives. It wasn't until they were introduced to Colby Schwartz that they found their distinct sound. The chemistry was undeniable and the band was finally complete. Being a young group, they pride themselves on not only their original material, but their abilities to entertain a live audience. Watching a Brazos Stone concert live is one that is worth experiencing.
BRADY ASH, who composes the majority of the music, says he was turned on to music long before girls, but when the two combined nothing was off limits. He is an undergraduate student at Texas Tech University. Brady is a self-taught musician who has been playing about three years. What he lacks in experience he makes up for with charisma. He demands the attention of their audiences. He has been accused not of mixing business with pleasure, but mixing pleasure with everything. He acknowledges the times his heart has fallen victim to love only to be broken, as well as the couple broken hearts he's dealt all for the sake of inspiring great songs.
DREW MOSES is the backbone of the band, and being no stranger to love, does his share of collaboration in the band's original material. Drew is still somewhat new to the drums and is learning the ins and outs of the kit. Drew played the trap set in concert band his freshman year of high school. It wasn't until the idea of the band was entertained that he picked the sticks back up. His raw talent he gives credit to Bill Rotter who showed him how to be one with the kit.
MONTY SCROGUM, the heartbeat of the band, began playing the bass about two years ago. He had prior ties to music playing the acoustic guitar before settling on the bass. He is currently enrolled at South Plains University. Known to the band and close friends as "Smash" he brings to the live performances the power stance and the fastest feet you've ever seen.
BRIDGET BRILES, the only member with no "y" chromosome brings a unique sound to the band with her fiddle. Trained classically on violin from the age of five, her powerful, heartfelt notes can be heard throughout their music. Bridget is a professional student who is in her seventh year of undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University. She hopes that the band takes off soon as she has no intent on receiving a degree in the near future. She has the running tally of having earned the most nicknames among the band.
COLBY SCHWARTZ, son of Chuck, gets his musical ability naturally. Being a second generation musician, he was bred with music in his loins. He was born with a battle ax in his hands. During live performances, this savior of the six strings will not only melt strings, but hearts as well. Colby has been known to play with more appendages than the average guitarist. He has a unique bluesy tone combined with shades of psychadelic and metal leaving one to wonder if he was born in the right decade. He is the only member to have a stage shirt so original it has a name to match its personality.
