Im not going to write the history of Breaking Pangaea like a normal bio. No. The reason for this is that nothing Breaking Pangaea ever did was quite normal. Some examples?... We would cut our own hair... We never once got hotels on tour... A better example?... At the height of the pop-emo craze, we put a twelve minute song on our record. And not like the one at the end of Jimmy Eat Worlds Clarity. That one just repeats forever. Our song was epic. Yet, Im not even sure it had a chorus. And Im not sure who got it and who didnt. We just wanted to play music and do it in a way that we thought was unique but still lovable. We had some loyal followers in doing things this way and that led to huge amounts of touring. Some history that does need to be mentioned is that we played our first show in January of 2000 in Philly with the Movielife and Silent Majority. For the next few years the 3 members, Will Noon, Clint Stelfox and myself, lived off of relentless van touring and cheap fast food. Our Dodge conversion van, which had a picturesque mural of an eagle flying over sea cliffs, took us across the country countless times.
The list of bands we toured with included Coheed and Cambria, Further Seems Forever, Hey Mercedes, Elliott and The Exit. The last tour we completed was in April 2003 and included dates with Taking Back Sunday. In the weeks following that tour, TBS found themselves in need of a guitarist/singer. They got in touch with me and I was soon packing bags for the Warped Tour. Will Noon meanwhile joined up with Straylight Run and suddenly we were both busier than ever. We met back up the next January (2004) and BP played to a sold out crowd at the First Unitarian Church in Philly. I said from the stage that night that it would not yet be the last Breaking Pangaea show. The three of us remain friends and talk often.
