  • Bio

Breakplus started his musical journey at an early age, during the golden era of Hip Hop. His love for Hip Hop culture got him into collecting all kinds of records and eventually djing, travelling through time and space with each vinyl purchased. In 2000, the breaks fanatic also set off on the trail of beat knowledge with his forever trusty MPC 2000xl. In 2001, he joined the pioneering internet radio www.basic.ch for nearly 7 years and close to 100 hours of mixes. The worldwide audiences were served with anything Breakplus could dig up - from soul to hip hop, drum'n'bass to funk, disco to broken beat, libraries jazz rock prog afro children's song and wacky themes - you name it! Around 2002, he was asked by long-time friend Ianeq (Quarion) to join the crew he was putting together: the Digital Love Squad. Alongside Keena, Ianeq and Mr. Beatnick, Breakplus rocked the crowd in various locations around Switzerland, with the Squad's final show in 2004 at the Montreux Jazz Festival, warming up for Jaylib (RIP J Dilla), Roots Manuva and Ty. Meanwhile, Breakplus and Mr. Beatnick decided they would join forces and sample libraries to start the Thieves Of Time project. They released "Time Machine" their first single, in 2005. It was played by the likes of Gilles Peterson on his BBC1 Worldwide Show, and well supported throughout the world. The same year, Breakplus was selected to participate to the Red Bull Music Academy in Seattle. It's around the same time that he met Moyo, a parisian multi-instrumentalist and producer. It would result in the release of The Prosoulytes's Springtime EP in 2010, a colorful blend of music featuring Kissey Asplund, Kendra Lou, Ben Hadwen and Daz-ini that got worldwide support and airplay by the likes of Ashley Beedle, Kev Beadle, Dom Servini, Simon Harrison and Laurent Garnier. Nowadays you can catch him setting off your local London rave on fire or slowly preparing the latest Prosoulytes, Thieves of Time or solo release in some medium or other, so watch this space!

All sample-based music heroes, too numerous to name. All soulful funky jazzy musicians and singers from the 60's and 70's. Again too numerous to name. Actually, every record I ever owned influenced me.
