BDS better known as BreaksDownScience has been playing with beats since childhood...messing with old Kiss albums, Jackson 5, and a whole gambit of others on the Bang & Oleufsen turntable.
BDS' mother was born and raised in Detroit Rock City...but she was a motown girl. There was hundreds of great motown records always scattered about the house...and BDS loved that stuff!!
BDS' father...born and raised in Pittsburg...the other rock city...he was a DJ in the mid 70's mixing a wide variety of rock sounds. He moved to upstate New York where BDS was intially raised. While there, he took a job at a large performance theatre...ballet, operas, movies, plays, and live music of all sorts. He became the audio/lighting director and theatre manager. BDS basically grew up behind a 80 channel professional mixing board and a live pa performance Bose Theatre system...BDS was a happy lil' tot! Over time, the pops taught BDS a thing or two about live sound, recording, mixing, and music in general.
After a number of years growing up on both east and west coasts, BDS slowly created the skills and sounds that he is best known for. Deep and dark breaks and smooth and heavy bass...from Techno to Breakbeat, BDS strives to keep his sounds new and stylized.
BDS has performed a residency at several clubs in Poughkeepsie New York, Lake Tahoe California, and Montreal Canada. Most of the spots were hole in the wall joints, however, the ambience and music were larger than life. BDS' fan base is located largerly in the underground music scene.
BDS has been producing on a lightweight scale since early 2000...you can hear the literal progression his production skills from 2002 until around 2006. He produced his first album named "Mobo" in late 1999...no label and no recording deal. 2007 has been a great year for BDS production-wise...there is an amazing amount of positivity surrounding the new production. BDS' second produced album entitled "Decibel Therapy" will hit stores in early 2008...unsigned and out of control!! This one will be an instant electronic classic...from down-tempo to house...from breaks to trance. If you like what you hear...hit BDS up and let him know. Creative criticism is more than welcome...
BDS first live act/production team/DJ partnership project is underway entitled "DECIBEL THERAPY"...consisting of three artists; BreaksDownScience, Universal Sounds Kinected, and Dj Numeric/Alpha Numeric. Look forward to their first ever release within the next year under the label Underground Productions/Decibel Therapy...it will most likely be a 12" White Label and CD single with 2-3 tracks. Those tracks will be available for purchase much earlier on mp3 through Beatport and Snocap.
