Breakbeat music is -- and always will be -- one of the most dominant forms of dance music.
You can trace the movement back to the days when James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, and Isaac Hayes ruled, through the electro explosion led by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force, up to the present day nu-breaks movement engineered by Adam Freeleand.
The early '90s rave boom in Europe was built on it, the West Coast is obsessed with it, and drum and bass (to some extent) grew out of it.
Breakbeat gained popularity in the U.K. through seminal tracks like "The Phantom" by Renegade Soundwave, "Papua New Guinea" by Future Sound Of London, and later "Bombscare" by 2 Bad Mice.
In the late 90's the commercial success of bands like Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, and The Prodigy has both attracted the attention of the major labels and has made the music available to a much wider audience.

Breaks Inc. (Xpdex & SeVen - Phx, AZ)
Breaks Inc. is steadily becoming Phoenix Arizona's biggest breakbeat duo. Xpdex & Seven have emerged from the shadows as two of Arizona's biggest up and coming breakbeat DJ's/Producers. Their bass oriented, high energy track selection and clean mixing skills will fill up any dance floor when they throw down together, or individually. In the past year alone Breaks Inc. has toured several states and have played with some of the biggest names in the breakbeat industry including D-lerium & Faze, Dj Icey, Keith Mackenzie, Dj Fixx, Aquasky, and Wutam just to name a few.
The production side of Breaks Inc. started to take shape with their first release "Krystal Blue EP" which was released on Krispy Beatz Recordings in November 2008. The EP features remixes by Spyke (from Russia), and Discosynthetique & Miller (Orlando, FL). Their next scheduled release will be a remix of Curtis B. & Scarletti's "Already There" which will be available in late 2009 on Krispy Beatz Recordings.
This duo has already made an impact on the local Phoenix scene, along with Dagnasty Productions by starting "The Pound" in September of 2008 and transforming it into having one of the hottest weeklies to hit the area in quite some time. Now they set off to make an impact on the National scene, and become a household name!!
Breaks Inc. music can be found on Beatport, iTunes, Amazon, Juno, and SoundCloud.
You can also catch them Live every Saturday @ www.UnitedBreaks.FM where they host a weekly show called "Saturday Sessions" from 3:00pm-5:00pm Arizona time (6:00pm-8:00pm Eastern time)
