BREAKTIME RADIO is about the future sound of music built on a rich and fertile history
of soul inspired grooves. It is about crossing genres, geographic borders, and ideologies
to bring people together through music. Its evolution came in 2006 by radio host and DJ,
John Brunelli after spending 7 years prior doing a weekly reggae & dub show on Binghamton
University's free format radio station, WHRW 90.5 FM in New York. The industry was becoming
over-saturated with artists. Major stations were becoming more and more driven by corporate
modeled playlists which lacked content, quality and innovation. The need to preserve, archive
and expose listeners to a diversity of sounds was ever more pressing.

JOHN BRUNELLI (Binghamton, NY) - "One of the things I want to focus on for BREAKTIME
is discovering and sharing music from a broad range of soulful genres that might not be heard
elsewhere. It is about breaking new sounds and artists to the listening public, offering people a
choice to hear something different - something pushing the boundaries, on that next level tip -
just like some of the early pioneers of radio did that I listened to growing up - Frankie Crocker,
Latin Rascals, DJ Red Alert, Marley Marl, Stretch & Bobbito. One of the most rewarding parts of
this all is sharing the music that I dig with my listeners, and getting people excited about a new
sound, a new idea, a fresh perspective. Whether it is music being made today, or that dusty rare
groove that I pulled from the crates, the sound is always fresh. Breaktime is about a love of music.
Music that makes you feel good, futuristic heartbeats, intelligent soul and boom bap head nods
swelled by bass shattering kicks that resonates deep within. Breaktime is the future of funk,
