"Four unique women. Four unique cultures. Four unique stories. Breasticide: A Breast Cancer Story is a compassionate, thought-provoking look at the major life challenges of four newly-diagnosed women"
About me: “Breasticide: A Breast Cancer Story”
A Hope for Change
This is a story of breast cancer told through the eyes of Melissa Munroe, a cancer survivor herself.
The camera follows Melissa on her compassionate journey as she uncovers the many facets of cancer’s concerns. She interviews survivors, patients and their partners, the support groups, the corporations, as well as doctors and experts dealing with this terrible disease. The different religions, cultures, and communities provide the backdrop for an untold story about the “old white woman’s” disease.
Through thought provoking clinical and personal questions, Melissa cuts to the heart of cancer and finally puts a human face to everyone involved. The emotional intensity ratchets up dramatically when Melissa’s cancer experience as a stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor, allows her to bond with the survivors and patients on a level that only they can understand.
She examines the key issues of:
Health
Diagnosis, treatments, trials, and tribulations
The emotional rollercoaster ride of this disease
Cancers’ impact on self identity, sexuality, spirituality, and multicultural traditions
The impact of a strong support network or isolation while coping with the disease
Men’s perspective as they also experience the breast cancer struggle through the women in their lives
What’s most important though, is having flexibility in terms of focus. Melissa documents the lives and feelings of people and she needs to follow the story. As the interviews unfold, new issues and questions are brought to light about the cancer story. This causes the focus of this documentary to continually evolve.
Therefore, the documentary’s focus is still very flexible.

Hi Everyone. We just finished re-organizing the office... call it "Spring Cleaning". In the meantime, in the editing dpt, it seems we need free-ware to capture HD footage so we can edit in Premiere. Yet, one of our many learning curves as we progress along with the doc. Just wanted to say thank you to Ron for volunteering as a transcriber. It was great to get to know him and we hope he continues to find success on his future endeavors.

Never a dull moment here at the Encourage Productions Ltd. office. Sachi experimented with a seaweed/herbal detox cleanse shake and we both agreed that it wasn't the most delicious culinary experience... oh well. Adventures in the Encourage kitchen continue as we strive for health while we work on the Breasticide documentary and CBCN DVD. Sending you all lots of cosmic good thoughts! Melissa :)
