Bio
Breathing Blue is a 6 piece rock band from Ocean County, NJ. Formed originally as a 5 piece in 2009, the band recorded and released a self-titled EP in the summer of 2010. The band began performing in their local New Jersey scene, winning performance spots at The Bamboozle Festival via The Break Contest (2010 Runner Ups, 2011 Champions), as well as doing weekend "mini-tours" in support. As the summer of 2011 came to a close, guitarist Matt Basilotto and bassist Chris Dechert departed the band for personal reasons, leaving the 3 remaining members (vocalist Justin Sanford, guitarist Rob Bost, and drummer Tyler Moellmann) in need of reinvention. Bost called upon the help of friend Rudy Meier, offering him a role as the band's 2nd guitarist, which he greatly accepted. Another friend, Dennis Moscara, assumed the role of bassist. The band immediately began pre-production for their debut full length, but felt as though something was missing. It was then that Moscara departed the band amicably, and Bost approached Basilotto and Dechert in the hopes that they would be interested in resuming their positions. After a long talk with all parties involved, they accepted and recording resumed. The final product, "Inner Animal", is scheduled for release in early summer 2012 as the bands debut full-length record. -

Breathing Blue’s new self-titled EP is a carefully crafted and fast paced introduction to 5 young New Jersey rockers. The band crafts the intricate guitarwork of Rob Bost and Matt Basilotto, the crooning, catchy melodies of Justin Sanford, and the strong rock rhythms of Chris Dechert(Bass) and formely Jason LaRaia, now Tyler Moellmann(Drums) into songs that will stay with you long after your radio is off.
The 6 song EP is accessible on its first listen and catchy from start to finish. “A Star in the West” is a energetic opener that defines a memorable rock debut, and “Chase the World” provides the anthemic rock chorus that will have crowds singing back. The EP closes with “Sparkle”, which highlights Sanford’s upbeat lyrics and the band’s mantra – Nothing should bring you down.
A youthful exuberance permeates through the positive message of their lyrics and their live show, but Breathing Blue is anything but neophytes. The EP uses no auto-tune, no triggered instruments, and no timed loops. The band is also not afraid of bending keys, changing time signatures, or introducing eastern scales to intrigue well-trained ears.
The bands’ members have been touring and performing for close to three years, and currently perform as needed with the New Jersey outfit Echo Screen. They have shared the stage with The Ataris, MGMT, Paramore, and many more! They have played their way onto the 2010 Bamboozle line-up by advancing in “The Break” contest.
"This EP is a fine example of freshman artists matching what took the veterans bands years to create..." - ..BringOnMixedReviews.com..
"Breathing Blues' self-titled debut is exceedingly clever... This results in the band having their own unique sound, and leaves them sitting comfortably outside a number of genres." - ..AlterThePress.com..
