Listening to music, working on my house, riding my bike, writing my thoughts and stories down, reading, laughing, causing havoc on the streets, inciting riots, burning bridges, free wine at art shows, bands that really rock and my baby love, Peanut, my pug dog.
I absofuckinlutely love sushi, but I try not to eat it that often (lie!) because our oceans are so severly over-fished. But then, my friend reminded me of tuna and how much tuna is canned and eaten everyday, especially in the midwest. That made me feel much better about my yellowtail and salmon sashimi habit. Thank you, Carrie!
Music
The stereo is usually on at my house, while I'm writing, while I'm doing the dishes, while I'm relaxing, while I'm caulking the cracks in the kitchen and the bathroom, while I'm putting the hood in the hole. I love all kinds of music, but rock music happens to be my favorite. In no particular order--
Very Be Careful plays Vallenato music from Columbia. They are a party waiting to happen every time they play! Check 'em out!
Very Be Careful, Manu Chao, Radiohead, The Gossip, Le Tigre, Bratmobile, Mos Def, Zap Mama, Sonic Youth, Stereolab, the Kills, Nirvana, Pavement, Fugazi, Ladytron, Slug, TV on the Radio, Death Cab for Cutie, Cold War Kids, Queens of the Stone Age, Zero 7, PJ Harvey, The White Stripes, Tricky, Black Eyed Peas, Cafe Tacuba, Buena Vista Social Club, Aterciopelados, Ozomatli, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Waits, The Sharp Ease, Dance Disaster Movement, Horns, Don Knotts Overdrive, the Screaming Sirens, the Warlocks, Bang Galore. Hey, wait a minute, that's my current band! I used to be in an art-rawk band, Squeak Toy, but it all folded into a 7-layer cake!
"I want to destroy you with bare hands. I want to rip the sinews off your brittle bones."
This is one of our many wonderful flyers that our drummer/graphic artist extraordinaire, Loop66, made for us. This picture is from our "prom night" show.
Hey! I'm singing sarcastic songs about your shitty life and smiling about it! Don't you love us? We're Squeak Toy and we're available for your next wedding, confirmation, bar mitzvah or quinceanera!!! Hire us! We play bad songs really well!
And from the 's ashes arises Bang Galore, built to rock your core.
Movies
Dr. Frankenfurter is so fucking hot! I love straight men in drag. Eddie Izzard, too! Sizzlin'!
Talk about hot! Have you seen John Turturro in his slinky, purple jumpsuit in The Big Lebowski? Shesus, I get hot just thinking about it!
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; Amadeus; Weird Science; The Piano; Jackie Brown; Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas; The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou; The Big Lebowski. I'm really into that movie right now because I'm a nihilist and I don't believe in anything.
Television
Strangers With Candy! Amy Sedaris is my new, fave, all around grrrl!!! She's got a new book out about cooking and entertaining--"I Like You--Entertaining Under the Influence." Don't forget to see her hilarious Comedy Central show. Now on DVD in a juicy and moist box set! Oh, and watch the Colbert Report! Hilarious!
Books
I like books. A lot. I'm a writer, you see. My favorites are by Thomas Pynchon, Donald Barthelme, Sylvia Plath, Henry Miller, T.C. Boyle, Louis deBernieres and Kurt Vonnegut. I read lots of rags, too, like Bust magazine, Tu Ciudad El Lay and online journals that publish the trashy chick lit I write. Yeah! Some of my favorite titles are: Hairstyles of the Damned--Joe Nemo, Sideways--Rex Pickett, The Crying of Lot 49--Thomas Pynchon, Cat's Cradle--Kurt Vonnegut, Brave New World--Aldous Huxley, 1984--George Orwell, Galapagos--Kurt Vonnegut, The Nimrod Flipout--Etgar Keret, and The Bell Jar--Sylvia Plath.
Heroes
My heroes are my friends that have traveled much more than I, but I'm slowly catching up. My heroes are Mother Theresa and Ghandi for their kindness, their pacifism and their actions benefiting others. I also love many non-profit organizations that act when our government won't, like Planned Parenthood and Greenpeace. Planned Parenthood provides birth control, reproductive health care and family planning at low costs to all who are interested. Throw money at these kinds of organizations when you can.
I've written a picaresque novel about music and art that takes place in Europe. I'm currently working on a collection of short stories, 90% of which are 100% true. They're funny, they're outrageous and they're right up your deviant alley.

About me: ..
..
I love trees. They give us clean air, shade and provide homes for animals. Don't chop them down!
My friend Rob took this picture while we were hiking in Anza-Borrego State Park.
Look at how the hummingbird's nest is perfectly contoured to fit the egg and herself.
Ah, perfect!
I only look melancholy. Deep down inside I'm beaming with exuberance.
Hey! I wrote and published my own book. Check it out!
It's available on Amazon.com.

I really like sharks. They're big, beautiful and scary. Don't kill them.
I'm Cuban and Varadero is a place in Cuba with beautiful beaches and expensive resort hotels. Hotel policies and government restrictions are very oppresive to Cuban citizens in Vardero. Boycott Varadero when you visit. Beautiful beaches exist everywhere on the island.
I originated the concept of the devil grrrl, goddamnit! And, as if that weren't enough, I wave a five-fingered mocking gesture in the direction of authority and conformity. Niener, niener, niener, come and suck my phantom wiener!
While Sylvia Plath eats men like air, I eat death on a dish, served cold, at a 1950's diner with a flashing neon sign above my head advertising it's blue plate specials. Thank you Bruce Nauman for putting your nightmares in gaslit tubes. .. And like this young girl, I have also collected the tears of a red and yellow spotted giraffe in the palms of my hands. Thank you Mark Ryden for painting your dreams.

Hi Brenda Bridges!... Okay, I'm not normally a bug person, but I love the way this little fellow is greeting the morning! You just know he's booming in his Mantis way "GOOD MORNIN' WORLD! I'M CATCHIN' ME SOME NUMMY BUGS TODAY!"... Hope you have that sort of day too (ummm..but without the bugs part). HUGS xoxo ; )))
