When you experience her voice, you will understand why. Based in Toronto Canada, Brenda is a Native American singer-songwriter who masterfully fuses Aboriginal hand drumming, Roots & Blues stylings and soulful vocals with authentic, inspiring spoken teachings. Her performances energize and calm you, while leaving you with goose bumps, and her teachings leave you feeling centred and inspired. Her latest CD Medicine Song was released in 2009 and is nominated for a 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award. It also has enjoyed airplay on CBC Radio and college/public/Native American radio stations across North America, as well as hitting #3 in the TOP TEN Folk/Roots/Blues charts on 92.5 The EX FM. MacIntyre’s career began in 1985 when she moved to Toronto after both her adoptive parents had died. Her first hit single (“Non Stopping Hip Hopping,” Moods International Records, Florida) was charted as a “hot new item” on North Miami’s Top 40 station WPOW 96FM. Brenda MacIntyre’s second single “Rock a Talk” was featured on “The Gathering” compilation released by Attic Records at the Opera House. In 1992, the CD won a Juno Award and MacIntyre earned a Canadian Reggae Music Award nomination. Brenda has performed and spoken at venues across North America, such as California State University, NXNE North by Northeast Music Festival and the Okanagan First Nation’s “Voices Against Violence” Conference. With a diverse range of clients including Legal Aid Ontario, BMO, The United Nations in Canada and The Lung Association, Brenda serves business teams, universities, schools, front line workers, health professionals and Aboriginal organizations. This album is by far the biggest and best I've created to date. Thanks to my wonderful producer Lisa Patterson of imaginit music in Toronto Canada, my stellar lineup of guest artists and featured multiple Juno Award winning spoken word artist Lillian Allen, this album is major label quality on a 100% independent fully self-employed single mother's budget.
I have to also give big thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Charlie Coffey, O.C. and my many individual sponsors and supporters. It is only with your support that this CD is finally in for manufacturing!! Thank you!!
