Sounds Like
alt-country with rock, jazz, and electronica influences... people have said, "lo-fi country meets downbeat electronica" and "like the flaming lips with the ghost of jerry without all the cool gear." i don't really care for either description... so send me something better to put up here.
these are some rough demos i put together at home in garageband. they're not perfect, but they give you an idea of the songs i write and the way i play.
i think simply having a myspace page is vain enough for me, even without prattling on about how awesome i am... but for those of you don't know me as well as you'd like, or at all for that matter, infer what you can from these insightful blogthings:
You Are Kermit
Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!
Congratulations, you're TIMAAH!
You're a person of few words, but that doesn't matter; you're able to express yourself anyways. This can pose as a problem, however, and you feel slightly misunderstood. Oh, and you're in a band. Rock on.
A total sweetheart on the outside, you love to fool people with your innocent image.
On the inside you're a little darker, richer, and more complex.
You're a hedonist who demands more than one pleasure at a time.
Decadent and daring, you test the limits of human indulgence.
hey bret, i've been watching tons of mets lately and of course it makes me think of you sometimes! watching tom glavine was pretty cool the other night. hope you were watching!
Next time you sing eternal flame I will absolutely make sure I do my interpretive dance.... I was just afraid I would get stage fright like I did earlier that day at the blazer dancer auditions and throw up in the bathroom!!! No bueno!!
just thought i'd say hi. I think you should one up alex's idea, and write a song about throwing golf bags. also, one about the joy of having a golf ball placed firmly into your windshield.
probably- but hold that thought because now i don't know if i'm even attending that music party- i'll post a bulletin update as soon as i figure out my life. got an apt in seattle though!!
Yes, there are new songs. I just did one for Jeffrey Brown's new book. I sent it to you. It's here at the center of the interview. I made a little video to go with it.
hey bret, i liked being around for the jam session the other night! i look forward to seeing some more songs on here- and tell sam to get a myspace! (i will too) see you soon!
ps- graduation potluck party at my house next saturday around 6 and anytime after, you are invited if you are around!
