Bret is a full time member of Canadian folk group Great Lake Swimmers, jazz-folk fusion
group 'The Outlanders', Canada's leading klezmer
group, 'Beyond the Pale', improvising chamber ensemble 'Mirobolus String Trio', Carly Blasutti and Mark Hart's project 'Carly and Mark', and Jon Feldman's 'Zebrina'. Additionally, he has performed and/or recorded with many luminaries of the jazz and folk music communities.
The recipient of numerous scholarships and arts
grants, Bret performs extensively in Toronto, and has toured throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
Special highlights of his performance career include a 2005 performance at the Canadian Govenor General Awards at the National Arts Centre in
Ottawa, performing at Molson Amphitheatre with Great Lake Swimmers and Serena Ryder as the opener for Robert Plant and Alison Krauss in 2008, and performing at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 2009 with Beyond The Pale as special guests at the 85th birthday of ledgendary actor and theatre personality Theodore Bikel.
