Brett Crenshaw, a native son of Bay City, Texas, grew up hearing stories about his grandfather playing fiddle with Bob Wills back in the days when Texas music, and the foundation of modern-day country music was in its infancy. Upon arriving at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 2004, Brett eagerly wanted to become a Veterinarian. He was introduced to now close friend, Rich O’Toole, and Brett’s life was forever altered. During his sophomore year of college, Brett started attending local open mic nights hosted around town. His songs soon became popular with his friends and acoustic shows were being revisited by people Brett did not know. This led to the calling of high school friend and fellow Aggie, Erik Frankson to join Brett on drums and help put the rest of the band together. One night not too long after one of the first jam sessions they had, Brett met Robert Crump at a party . Rob was playing guitar for a few people and was approached to come audition for the lead guitar spot. A running joke in the band is that Rob, whose personality is rather dry, auditioned Brett and Erik. Needless to say, Rob fit the part and has been with the band ever since the beginning. Throughout 2005 and 2006, Brett and Erik used several fiddle and bass players. In 2007, Andy Abbott was referenced to Brett by friend Brady Black to come and audition and play a live show. Andy agreed to come to College Station to give things a shot. He was asked to join the band full time in November 2007 and has been a key resource to where the band is today. In March 2008, the guys needed a bass player to fill in for a show. Brian Kirkpatrick, a fraternity brother of Andy and prior acquaintance of Brett, was called to come in and fill the spot. He has been with the band full- time ever since.
Brett and the guys are now armed and ready to hit the road with full force to promote their debut record “Another Late Night” due out August 21, 2008. The road ahead is a long and uncertain path, but this group of determined individuals plan on hurtling the barriers and tackling opposition they encounter to get the music to the people. Be on the lookout, Brett Crenshaw is coming to a town near you!
