Hey folks - thanks for coming to my little corner of Myspace.
I like to consider myself an extremely versatile bass player with wide ranging tastes and abilities. Over the years I have worked professionally in rock, country, blues, jazz, and all sorts of roots music.
I am constantly looking for new talented people to collaborate with and come up with new sounds.
The only requirement: You must be intense in your writing and playing
My Current Project is working with Dianna Gatto (www.myspace.com/diannagatto) an extremely talented singer/songwriter from the Berklee School of Music... Come check it out.
Previous projects include a revival “Old Dead Bug” (ODB) an anchor band of the SF Bay Area “Vibe Tribe” scene. ODB is an intense jam-band, which specialized, in intense live shows, odd time meters, and complex song structures. Amongst other honors ODB was named of the “"North America's 125 hottest live bands" in the Jam Bands book that chronicles the rise of the improvisational rock music scene during the 1990's. In its career ODB shared stages with Live, Los Lobos, Leftover Salmon, The Jerry Garcia Band, and Gong amongst others
My first well known project was “The Blue Eyed Devils” (TBED) a roots Blues group in the San Francisco area. TBED’s last album “The Legend of Shorty Brown” made the national CMJ radio top 100 charts received critical acclaim from national print media and is nominated for a California Music Award for Outstanding Blues Album. ‘Shorty Brown was produced by Jimbo Mathus of the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
While with TBED I had the honor of sharing venues with:
The North Mississippi All-Stars (West Coast Tour)
Corey Harris (The Fuel 44)
Mem Shannon (JJ’s Blues, The Torch Club)
Pat Green (Great American Music Hall)
The Yonder Mountain String Band (The Fillmore)
Jackie Green
Red Meat
Headlined the 31st Annual San Francisco Blues Festival on the main stage
I have attended The Stanford Jazz workshop where I had the opportunity to study under greats like Ray Brown, and Rufus Reid. After 3 years attending the Jazz workshop I was offered a teaching position, which I declined.
Other musical experience includes several years as first chair bassist in various youth symphonies. Several lesser-known Rock, Jazz and Improv projects over the years
