Just me for now, and some guest players from my circle of musician friends. The generous sharing of backing tracks on the Internet has allowed me to have virtual jams with musicians from all over the world. Their awesome talents give me a great forum to practice my harp and vocals.
Influences
Sonny Boy Williamson I & II, Little Walter Jacobs, Big Walter Horton, Paul Butterfield ... this could be a very long list ...
Sounds Like
A mixture of electric Delta and Chicago blues, acoustic country blues, with some other genres thrown in at times ... jazz, hip hop, folk, rock.
I've been seriously pursuing blues harp for about five years now. I'm a regular on harmonicajam.com THE best blues harmonica jam site. I play out at local blues jams once in a while, sit in with some bands, and do some singing as well, and also enjoy the occasional house jam with friends.
I had the great pleasure of sitting in with the Racky Thomas Band (www.therackythomasband.com) a smoking hot Boston blues band, when they played at my wedding in September 2006. That's their amazing guitarist Nick Adams playing his heart out to the left of me in the photo.
Hoping to sit in with more bands in the future, or put together a blues duo, trio, or quartet for an occasional low-key local gig.
I also do some home recording ... represented by the songs I've posted here.
You need to check out the new Victoria "Blowbox" Harp amp! I was instrumental in designing and getting into their line of top shelf amps. Go to youtube and search me "James Reeser" and there are a couple of recent vids featuring it.
It is a 45 watt 2X8 amp. It looks like a tweed head but yes it has 2 8" speakers in it. No one can believe such a fat rich tone comes from a little amp. It is versatile... light weight... It can be plugged into any speaker cab as it has 2, 4 and 8 ohm output taps. It also has a switch that makes it either a stock 59 Bassman if that is your tone (also for guitar if desired) or flip the switch for the harp special circuits and rich fat harp tone! And yes has plenty of power as a stand alone to keep up with just about any band.
The Roadhouse Joe Blues Band rocks Hiccups Sports Bar & Nightclub on Sunday afternoon! Get on your bad motorscooter and ride up to 80th Ave. and Sheridan in Arvada for some Hard Blues and Full Tilt Boogie to close out your weekend and ease you back into your week.
