The Invaders, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are a World Renown, award winning band that has been performing for over two decades! influence by early Jamaican Ska legends like Desmond Dekker and Laurel Aitken, the British "Two-Tone" movement, the 80's and 90's sounds of Danny Elfman's Oingo Boingo, the Police and L.A.'s Fishbone, the Invaders mold this into their own brand of original fuel-injected Ska. Originally formed in 1987 and taking their name from the old 1960's television show of the same name, they played a vast array of 60's garage grunge and 80's college rock. This also helped shape the writings of band leader and singer, Max. In 1989 the band re-invented themselves as a stricktly Ska band, releasing "Skank Tank" in 1991. Through-out the 1990's, the band toured heavily in the U.S.(in their signature black Checkerd Bus), released four more projects and appeared on over 24 compilations!
AWARDS include three WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) awards for Best Ska Group 1999, 2000 and 2008. Voted Best Milwaukee Band by the "Shepard Express" Reader's Poll in 1998. The band signed to New Haven, CT Record Label, Elevator Records in 1996 and released the CD "All That's Normal Turns To Chaos." The band took a hiatus in 2000 to do side projects including "Seven-O-Seven" and "the Fallout" while still doing an occasional Invader show. During this period, tragedy struck when Invader Saxist Stephan "Woody" Angelos passed away suddenly from an accidental overdose. Something that effected the band members deeply and enforced their anti-drug stance!
Coming back together again full time in 2006 with some new faces and breathing new life into the Invaders classics, the band continue to perform to masses of sweat soaked concert goers! The Invaders feel their fans are the best...second to none! The energy radiated by them only fuels the band more on stage! In 2008 The Band also has released their newest studio CD since 1996, "Where Ya Gone?" out now!
Clubs, Colleges and festivals can expect crowds dancing to the positive vibrations of The Invaders. See and hear why this group has become legendary as one of the best bands the 3rd wave of Ska music has produced.
Cheers!
Hi The Invaders! Just stopping by your page to see whats good! Keep me in mind if you need any high quality/low cost mastering. All the details and samples are on my page. Feel free to get in touch with any questions. Take care!
Hi again Invaders. Just noticed that you do a version of the International Beat's Rocksteady. Well the guy who wrote that tune, Tony Beet, is the driving force behind the band that I'm currently in. Check us out on www.myspace.com/acoustictheatre. He's going to drop you a request (probably to ask for his royalty payments)!!!! Seriously though he was happy about your version. Nice one, Wellsy.
I'll be shouting requests at Summerfest. It'll be my birthday so you have to do them, even if you don't know them. Start with "Ten Commandments of Man".
Hey there, thanks for adding me. We all love ska don't we? And for all those who don't....well let's ignore them eh! Idiots. You guys really know how to skank a gig up don't ya. Would love to catch you live, now where's my passport? Why not check out my band the Acoustic Theatre, #1 in my friends, we're taking Bluebeat/Rocksteady/Ska in a different direction. Let me know what you think. Nice one, Wellsy.
