Influences
Too many to try and put in a box, but at random: Al Green,Marvin Gaye,John Coltrane,Phil Lynott,Mike McDonald , Jimi Hendrix,John Lennon ,
new stuff Keziah Jones,Jay Electronica,Amp Fiddler, D'angelo,Erykah Badu, Est ,a thousand other names that mean just as much, but what i'm really talking about is more than just a name ,
:electricity: like the first time i heard the opening riff of 'move on up by Curtis Mayfield,da da da da da dada..for performance :Elvis - The Aloha Hawaii Show , on vhs of course
watching the video of Phil Lynott walking down the street and on the ha' penny bridge for the song 'Old Town'- Steely Dan -more than ever these days.
Sitting in my room as a kid with a tape deck recording the Larry Gogan Golden Hour or The Mikey Mac Show - a collage of audio, songs mashed up together and melted into the latest radio ads ,using the rudest of technology, tapes broken and then tied up together or super glued with sophistication, Stevie Wonder ,Led Zepplin Earth,Wind And Fire, The Bee Gee's , The Boys are back in town ,anything everything ,
Observing my mother's reaction in the kitchen when one of the old tunes comes on the radio - rejuvenation,
Phasers set to stun like the first time i heard Dr Dre and Snoop's 'Ain't nothin but that G thang's pulse come to life in my ears -I can't leave out the first album I ever bought (on Tape) Prodigy Experience- was like jumping out of a plane and being hit by the rush of sound colour and adreneline. My Influences.. Songs I dont know the names of but yet are imprinted on my soul. Tunes I may never hear again but that came along at the right time and then dissappeared for years only to show up one day when you're passing a cafe or waiting in your local Tax office or something . Some of the most poignant times of my life have a soundtrack playing somewhere in the back .. way back.
Brian Deady is a Cork based vocalist/composer who is showing great promise and already after being noted as "one to watch for in '09 "by The Irish Times.
His own mix of soul/pop/disco/funk/a cappella commutes between influences like Steely Dan, Kool and the Gang, and Marvin Gaye and more contemporary artists such as Erykah Badu, Outkast and Amp Fiddler.
His first single 'Any Ol’ Ting' caused quite a buzz on the airways and was nominated Red Fm 'single of the week ' in summer '08, while his video was screened at the Cork Film Fest '08 and recently crossed the waters to the Chicago Irish Film Fest '09 .
Known for his much acclaimed barbershop/beatbox track 'Gold spot', a cleverly crafted vocal-only number which featured on Prime Time's Southern Fried 2 . Following the huge response it created he spent the next 4 years working on his sound, writing new songs and crafting album prototypes into audio gems. The forthcoming album: 'Interview' is currently being put together with both Ross O'Donovan and Colm Kenefick and is due for release at the end of summer.
While currently putting the finishing touches on 'Interview' he has joined forces to produce a 9 piece live outfit ;a hugely talented cast including the highly acclaimed Niwel Tsumbu on guitar ,Tomas Gall on drums and Rory Mcgovern ..s.
The live set has been wowing crowds; debuting at the Cork Jazz Festival '08 supporting the Poets Of Rhythm and more recently opening for soul queen - Candi Staton. The reputation of this soulful pop/funk act is really gaining momentum and with fresh new singles due for release over the course of the summer Brian Deady's unique meshing of styles is set to catch fire .

If you have a band and would like to work in western central Massachusetts, I may be able to help book you. I started NC Booking back in '89 when I was booking a few bands from Scotland and Ireland. Now, 20 years later, I'm still booking great roots music acts. To find out more, visit http://northamptoncommunity.ning.com where you can REGISTER. Thanks!
