About Brian Doyle and the Hamilton's
Brian Doyle is an artist whose lyrical prose is arresting, lucid and strikingly economical. his songs are open, warm and inviting with melodies that are exactly how they should be, delivered precisely how they should sound while never losing hold of the organic tap root that is true American songwriting.................................................................................. Brian Doyle Bio................................................ Brian Doyle is a multi-dimensional, singer-songwriter whose career is marked by 4 album releases, notable performances, and consistently solid reviews. His sound is built on traditional rock, blues, and folk with creatively-edgy, alternative songwriting. His latest album, released in November 2006, “All Roads Lead To Home,” is perhaps his strongest work, though his previous albums won rave reviews. Southeast Performer magazine wrote: “Brian Doyle is a multi-talented musician deserving of much acclaim, and “Falling Forward” is a completely enjoyable album full of energy.” And the album “Matter” was called an “extremely solid and hones composition with hints of rock, country and blues” by an Atlanta recording executive. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Doyle plays both solo and with his band, the Hamiltons, and has played at music venues across the southeast. Doyle's musical path began in a garage in his home town of Jackson, Michigan playing rhythm guitar for his first band and after an exhaustive and unsuccessful search for a singer, he eventually slid over to the microphone. He relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan and formed a party band with high school friends called The K.G.B. (killergreenbuds) playing anyplace with a power outlet. He next joined up with a band called The Blind Rebels (it was a Brando thing) as the singer/ lyricist and started the evolution into song writing. The Blind Rebels was more of a song writing project than a band, writing and recording three full length demos in just over a year and a half. This of course led to cabin fever, creative differences, a few ego maniacs and a break up. Ready for a change, Doyle moved south to Atlanta from Grand Rapids, started writing on his own, and recorded his solo debut, The Vicious Circle, in late 1997. He spent a few years playing around the Atlanta area with his band and as a solo artist (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica), developing new material and maturing as a performer. In 2000, Doyle recorded his second CD, Falling Forward. Engineered with Rush Anderson, the CD was mixed in Macon, GA at Phoenix Sound, formally the Otis Redding/Capricorn Records Building (everything was still there but the orange shag). In 2001 Doyle recorded the EP Matter with platinum producer Rick Beato at Tree Sound Studio in Atlanta, GA. In early 2002 a move to Charlotte, NC was suddenly necessary for Brian’s wife’s career (as he says, “she butters the toast.”). With the sudden life chaos Matter was never officially released. Back to step one, Brian hit the clubs and jam nights looking for the cave where the players hide, eventually hitting the mother load, Tuesday night jam w/ Static at Smokey Joe’s. After a tumultuous year of playing around the region both as a solo artist and with various borrowed and stolen bands. Eventually forward momentum slowed and burn out ensued. Then, a significant defining moment occurred when Doyle found out he was going to be a father, Cole Harrison born 9/3/2004. He was inspired to start writing and recording All Roads with the first leg of financing coming from an unforgettable event involving his 1966 Ford Galaxie, (pictured on the cover and back of his Vicious Circle CD). While driving it across town to park it in a high-traffic place for sale, it was totaled. So one could say State Farm got things going. While adjusting to life as a stay at home dad, Brian started his own business, Elizabeth Antique Restoration out of his garage, which has slowly financed the completion of the CD. Brian Doyle and the Hamilton’s (formed in summer of 2006) are: • Brian Doyle – guitar, harmonica, vocals • Dan Hood – lead guitar, vocals (Formerly w/ the noises 10) • Steve Green – bass (Formerly w/ HoneyChild) • Greg Lisi – drums (Formerly w/ HoneyChild) Full Moon Hamilton- Scott Dailey – keyboards, vocals (DaileySoul) Brian Doyle and the Hamilton’s debuted at The Light Factory’s - 2006 Power of Image Award and Benefit – The Last Waltz with Jonathon Taplin (Dylan, the band Scorsese), October 25th, 2006 in Charlotte. Their new cd All Roads Lead to Home was released at a performance and party Saturday, November 18th at 8pm at the Evening Muse in Charlotte. All roads was recorded with Joe Kuhlman at 36th Studio (long may you run) in Charlotte, and completed with Danny Howes at Red Door Productions in Atlanta. Art for the CD art is taken from a 1916 Sears Roebuck and Co. catalog, and the house pictured on the cd tray is Doyle’s home in Charlotte. All Roads features guest appearances by Delta Moon slide guitarist, and former band mate, Mark Johnson, also on Matter and Falling Forward. Also featured: Charlotte Symphony Cellist Tanya Betchler, Queens College Music Professor and Classical Guitarist Bob Texeira, and several other top Charlotte and Atlanta artists and friends: Mike Talbot on drums, also on Matter John McKnight – insane background vocals, also played drums, vox on Falling Forward Jon Schwenke- atl bass on Out of reach, New Orleans and Give it away. Jody Worrell – tele leads on New Orleans, an Atl session legend Russ Betenbaugh – keyboards, plays w/ Hobex Josh Daniel- lead and rhythm guitars, a brilliant artist, now w/ The New Familiars. Flavio Mangione – charlotte bass- Joe Kuhlman - late night charlotte bass Danny Howes - rhythm, lead guitars Albums by Brian Doyle: • “All Roads Lead to Home” November 2006) • “Matter” 2002 • “Falling Forward” 2000 • “The Vicious Circle” 1997

Fellas,
Just stopping by to let you know about the FREE SHOW we're putting on at the Neighborhood Theatre on July 11th. It's our only show in town this summer so we wanted to make it special, and what with the gas prices and all we figured what better way to throw a party than to just forget the price tag and get down! So come on out... we're going to have a great time, we'd love to show you how we've grown, it's a friday night, we've got two great bands playing with us, and hey... it's free!

Hope you're doing well, and we're looking forward to seeing you out on the 11th!

cheers,
The New Familiars

You all sounded great in the WNCW studio! You're a pretty good and relaxed interviewee, Brian. Don and I enjoyed the show. The band is tight! Yeah, I can see exactly why you were excited. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Thanks for this evening's entertainment!
