A lifelong resident of Columbus Ohio, Brian Griffin has spent most of his adult life working as an award winning artist, receiving a degree in Fine Arts at The Ohio State University and working as a Graphic Artist at the Upper Arlington Public Library. All the while, he wrote songs. Songs about everyday life and songs about how people can mistreat and harm each other. Songs about hate, love, war and peace. Over 350 songs. With the march of time, the need to get these songs heard grew to the point of taking action. Since April 2000, Brian has been a regular performer at various acoustic open stages around Columbus including the Thirsty Ear Tavern in Grandview and Club 202. Brian has performed at the Ohio State Fair, and more recently, has played monthly shows at Three Cups Coffeehouse and at Kafe Kerouac. Brian has also played at several benefit concerts, and has been a featured performer at vigils against the death penalty and has sang at anti-war/pro-peace rallies. In February 2002, work began on an debut album, Late Bloomer released in March 2003. Songs from the CD have been featured on CD 101's Frontstage program and Brian has been a guest performer on Bob Fitrakis's Fight Back! show. In September and October 2004, Brian played an "Open Stage Tour" of the Central Ohio area to raise voter awareness for the upcoming presidential election. The EP Dispatches From the HomeFront was released before the election. Recording continued for the second full length CD HomeFront which was released in June 2005. In August and September 2005, Brian returned to the studio to record a a 3rd CD of non-political songs. The resulting CD, LoveLoss was released in October 2005. In 2006, Brian continued playing shows and benefits around Columbus including the "Clash-a-thon" at Skullys Music Diner and was the first performer at the Comfest's Solar Stage. Future plans include playing more shows in the Central Ohio area and recording songs for the next release.

Thanks for adding me. ¶ People hear only what they want, so facts alone won't wake them; they need inspiration too. ¶ This world's evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — whether in market, government, or elsewhere — believe we're all separate, motivated only by self-interest, by greed & fear. They want us to share that belief; they use it to justify themselves and to discourage us from uniting. They use it to shape the world's political & economic systems that perpetuate war & poverty. Their real power comes not so much from secret conspiracies as from propaganda that we all hear every day and that we hardly notice, implicit in the background assumptions of television & newspapers. ¶ But you & I have found a better purpose inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. ¶ The outcome of the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be just a spectator. Join the movement, if you haven't already: get involved in whatever way feels right for you. Question authority. Keep fighting, loving, hoping, singing. Hand in hand, we may still be able to heal this world. ¶ I'm impressed with ideas of Lakoff & Waldman about *how* to spread the vision, so I'm trying to promote their ideas via comments like this one and the essay on my MySpace page. I'm not selling anything. ¶ The real war is between classes, not nations; so I'll picnic on July 14, not July 4. Wouldn't it be nice to close Guantanamo by Bastille Day? ¶ Peace, love, hope, and revolution — Eric
