Bio
Welsh singer/songwriter Brian Humphreys writes thoughtful,Americana tinged songs that conjour up images of Steinbeck’s 1930’s America,Kerouac‘s long, soul searching road trips and the melancholic wistfulness of Nick Drake. His soulful vocal, guitar and sweet harmonica have earned comparisms with Johnny Cash,Steve Earle and John Fogerty. Humphreys‘ own itinerant working past is evident in the optimism of the underdog in many of his songs, such as Leaving In The Morning, an ode to the downtrodden working man.Whilst Natural High is a paean to the wonders of Mother Nature, another subject close to his heart. Tales of chopping wood, sweeping yards and washing cars.Riding freight trains, seeking solitude in the sun,the earth and the sea, despairing at the injustice of the modern world.Chinese laundries, moonshine stills and upheaval.Hopes, dreams and love. “If Japhy Ryder had an ipod then Holy Water would certainly be on there” -
