Brianne de Verteuil & Her Savvy 6 is a group of talented musicians from Victoria BC, dedicated to performing the music of the John Kirby Sextet, as well as performing other jazz repertoire Kirby-styled (including original music). One of the more significant small groups in the Big Band era, the John Kirby Sextet played an sophisticated, lighter style of jazz. Their biggest hit is "Undecided", which quickly became a jazz standard. Just as the John Kirby Sextet was often joined by vocalist Maxine Sullivan, Brianne's Savvy 6 is proud to feature a singer on a number of tunes. This group also draws on influences such as Duke Ellington, Johnny Hodges, Cannonball Adderley, Artie Shaw, and Louis Armstrong. .... Brianne de Verteuil & Her Savvy 6 est un ensemble composé de talentueux musiciens de Victoria, dont le répertoire reprend la musique de John Kirby ainsi que des arrangement ou des compositions dans l’esprit du sextet de John Kirby. Parmis les formations du « Big Band era », le sextet de John Kirby a développé un style à la fois brillant et sophistiqué, comme en témoigne « Undecided », leur composition la plus connue. De même que le sextet de John Kirby a souvent accueilli le chanteur Maxine Sullivan, Brianne’s Savvy 6 se réjouie d’être rejoint quelques chanteuses sur plusieurs arrangements.
