Neufangledcomedy's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | Brian Neufang began his comedy career at Laff’s Comedy Club in Tucson, Arizona. As a college graduate, he avoids paying back his student loans by living in his car, traveling and performing his stand-up at colleges, comedy clubs and living rooms across the country. A background in improvisation and theatre allows Brian to adapt easily to his surroundings and deliver his material with a commanding stage presence. His humor comes from his life experiences and ranges from self-deprecating to observational. He just finished working on his first feature film "Lightbulb". He has opened for one comic you may have heard of Doug Stanhope and hundreds of others you will probably never hear of. Brian is a charismatic young performer that is working hard to bring something "Neufangled" to the world of comedy! | | Website | homelesscomic.com | | Influences | More than anything I am influenced by and learn a little something from every comic I have ever met at Laff’s and/or on the road thus far that is making a living doing what they love! BUT some the famous comics that inspire me are: old school Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Doug Stanhope, Bill Hicks, Mitch Hedberg, Zach Galifianakis, Rick Overton, Dane Cook, Dave Chappelle, Demetri Martin, Greg Giraldo, Daniel Tosh, Louis CK, Brody Stevens | | Members | are Swollen | | Films | featured extra in the upcoming movie Lightbulb, ooooh... http://imdb.com/title/tt0991174/

About me:
According to the correct spelling in the Oxford English Dictionary:
newfangled |--n(y)o----fa ng g?ld; -?fa ng-| (also new-fangled) adjective derogatory different from what one is used to; objectionably new : "I've no time for such newfangled nonsense."
newfangled digital technology new, the latest, modern, ultramodern, up-to-the-minute, state-of-the-art, advanced, contemporary, new-generation; informal trendy, flash. antonym dated.
My last name is Neufang, (now I know it is spelled a little different) but I can't deny the right that my family name gives me to create a "newfangled" approach to comedy.
My name is Brian. I'm a comic. I have given up everything I own except for what is practical to survive the road and I live in my car, truly a homeless comic (by choice...) Now, I probably could have sent a promo DVD to potential bookers and hope they watch it, most likely it will end up on the shelf with the other 8 million promos, or I could show up at the club in person and ask politely for a guest set. If I get booked, then I've done well. If I just get stage time then thats pretty good too. It's worth the risk to me. I love this shit that much! Why bother maintaining an apartment in a city where comedy lives but doesn't thrive? Especially when comics starting out don't make money for shit.
Here's the deal... I might show up in your city as I travel the country. I want to do comedy for you. How about this? I'll put on a show for you and your friends, AND in return you provide me with a meal and/or a place to crash. What a deal! You get to be entertained and I don't go broke. Don't worry I'm not a creep or a wierdo, if you invite my over I sincerly hope you're not either.
Worst case scenario, I have the adventure of a lifetime, making friends, meeting people and living free on the open road! Besides that I think its a damn good reason not to pay back my student loans... sorry Sallie Mae I'm homeless :(
