art & design (including acrylic painting, charcoal, photoshop, maya, flash, after effects), learning, peoples, technology, film, nasa, life, love, all of the above.... oh, and I'm interested in never growing up. so far, mission: accomplished.
Music
I generally let music come to me. I like being guided toward music by my friends. mostly listen to soundtracks/scores from films/video games. I love John Williams, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, the late & great Jerry Goldsmith, Ennio Maricone, Eric Serra, just to name a few. and of course I love all of the classics, the obvious, Billie Holiday, Tony Bennet, Sinatra, etc.. etc.. I have a soft spot for metallica, as I grew up on them, I enjoy most of all, simple, slow melodies, which is why jazz and classical music seem to blend well with me. I also just listen to movies.
would go on WAY too long to be of interest here. sufficed to say, I like what's good, dislike what's bad. both are defined by 2 cups of Kopna, a pinch of Jordan, throw in a dash of Taylor, add half a tsp of Duncan, get out the BenBen custom blade, set blender to Carlos, preheat oven to Zamrzla, and serve while still Hottios. no "favorites of all-time" simply because it's constantly changing. film is a very fluid medium which is drastically affected by what is going on within the room, the quality of the viewing, who is with me, what happened that day, etc... I recently discovered that one of the great pulls for me about watching the Star Wars trilogy is how much fun I have with the other people in the room. Before, I just thought I liked space uh-splosions and green dancing chicks (totally ripped off of Star Trek), and I DO like those things, but now it's gone beyond that point and it's more like looking through a scrapbook and discussing a trip with others who have been to the same place. it's a great time to be alive. (unless you're in the army). I will say that I LOVE A.I. Artificial Intelligence. I can't say enough about it. Peter Jackson's Brain Dead (a.k.a. Dead Alive), all of Jim Henson's flicks, Vanilla Sky, Blade Runnder (duh), Serenity, Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, The Fountain. And all the rest of the B-est B-movies.
Television
television in general is steadily going downhill, it's reduced to simple recreations of standard themes. with each generation true meaning is becoming less and less valid. however, some aspects of television are getting better all the time. as for favorites, here goes: Battlestar Galactica, Six Feet Under, Firefly, Family Guy, Carnivale (THE most beautiful show on Tele), any version of Star Trek (although late seasons of DS9 and seasons prior to 4 of Enterprise are least favorites), Lazy Town, Animal Cops, It's Itsy Bitsy Time! the Office (the original British, not the seemingly uninspired American Workplace), Invader Zim, Myth Busters, and the Magic Bullet infomercial. Podcasts: I dig The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, and the extremely mac-friendly Tiki Bar TV!

I don't believe in wasting time. and by "time" I'm referring to "my time" (harhar) I think life is about 100 years too short. I am constantly pissed off that I won't get to see "the future". you know, the one where we are replaced by animatronic versions of ourselves by cyberdyne cuz we're not efficient enough. But don't worry, cuz will smith will save us all. Where was I?
oh- People confuse the holy hell out of me, hence, people watching is one of my favorite past times. I would like to try a more involved form of people watching; one where, perhaps, I am allowed to throw stones or administer electric shocks to the subjects....*pause*.... sorry, had to wipe the drool from my lip. I hate the fact that an average movie-watcher cannot tell the difference between House of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead (either version). I realize, however, that it is a simple matter of education of film, and that over-education of any particular subject can lead to severe asshole-ism. I have to try and avoid this affliction in a multitude of ways throughout the day.
Being a graphic designer, my fellow designers and I live in a completely different world than do the norm public. When we take a trip to or a store, mall, movie theater, even a fucking car wash, we are shoved into a sea of elements of which we have a great knowledge, and yet the average person "couldn't care less" (but secretly... they know... oh yeah.. they know). An equivalent would be if a professional seamstress were to go to walmart and every single package was created by knitting. The seamstress (we'll call her Hillary) could tell the specific technique of the item's creation, where the materials came from, etc... (thank you Hillary, you may return to your seat) and would therefore form strong opinions about each. It's a very strange occupation to hold because we live in a society which is bombarded by video, text, color, and a hundred other means of transferring information to our brains by the hour, and the focus of this information could be ANYTHING. Could be Fantasia, could be bubble gum, could be a prostate exam, and it could also, sadly, be the annihilation of another country.
well, I don't think I'm changing anyone's life here, so I'm gonna stop.
Who I'd like to meet: I would like to meet my family members when they were my age. I can't relate to a lot of my family simply because of the technology-information/lifestyle differences, and I wish I could hang out with them when they were 20-somethings. maybe I'll be hanging a portrait someday, slip, hit my head, and have a vision, a picture in my head!.... a picture of THIS! (if you got that, it should make you smile, if you didn't, you should get used to confusion around me)
Yeah I relly loved that Zissou video, think you guys did a great job with it. Thanks for Mandi's info. Still not sure if I want to reconnect. Although, I was wondering if you ever hear from Richard Pina? I heard Betty was in a documentary on PBS. All is well, I started a new job about 3months ago. it's soooo less stressful:) Hope all is well with you and your xoxo

This is a really late response, but remember that guy's pictures you sent? The guy with the super creepy beards? He has a picture of himself at the Garden of Eden in Lucas, which is one town over from where I grew up. Weird. This is a weird internet day for me.
Hey Brian, good to hear from you! I'm doing terrific & teaching is going Gr8, lovin it! Yes, my apologies I have been consumed with work this last semester as well. Time is flying faster than I ever believed it could...lol...must mean I am happy though. : ) I hope you have a beautiful Christmas with many blessings!! We'll talk more here soon after the holidays settle, take care B!
Though... oddly enough, my next album probably won't see the inside of my new iMac. I want the album to be 100% OS9, for continuity's sake. (Me + my weird philosophy.)
Thus, you'll have to wait until 2012 to hear my NEW new album, created on an Intel iMac.
