Briar recorded her first CD, THE ROAD IS LONG at the age of 10. She has performed at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in front of over 2,000 people, opening for speaker Rick Hansen, and received a standing ovation. She was asked to perform again in May 2005 & 2006 and will be performing again in 2009. Briar won the ‘Vocalist of the Year’ award at the 2004 Hamilton Music Awards ceremony in Hamilton for her CD debut, and performed live at the awards ceremony. Briar has travelled to Nashville, Tennessee to sing at the 2004 ‘Chet Atkins Appreciation Society’.
Now at the age of 14, Briar had the opportunity to be on the television show called THE NEXT STAR on YTV. She was chosen as one of the top six contestants from thousands of kids across Canada. Briar auditioned with her own original song that she wrote, called BLEEDING. She then worked with a music producer and recorded her song, renaming it THE LAST WORD.

I saw you on the next star and you were my favourite person since day 1 :) The last word is such an incredible song so full of emotion, and you were so young when you wrote it!
