  • Bio

.. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .............. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ..........

.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ...................... ............ ............ Brice WASSY stems from the generation of African musicians that came to Europe in the early and mid- seventies. His musical career begins by playing pots and pans at home, however, very soon after, from 7 to 12 years old; he plays with several groups in Yaoundé (Cameroon). ..Having arrived in Paris in 1974 he plays with Wally Badarou then with internationally known Manu Dibango for a spell of 6 years. His participation on the « Waka Dibango » album spotlights his musical qualities that already well renowned in the musical milieu... Highly skilled drummer, he evolves and arranges, the music of Pierre Akendengué (Gabon), Francis Bebey (Cameroon), Uta Bella (Cameroon), Busi Mhlongo Touré Kunda (Senegal), Daniel Balavoine, Louis Chédid and Jacques Higelin (France), etc., but also jazzmen who appreciate his mastery of ternary music such as Colin Walcott, Don Cherry Graham Haynes and Jim Pepper... Today, Brice Wassy dedicates himself to artistic direction and management of albums for many well-known African musicians but he especially enjoys composing and playing his own music. Here he displays all the wealth of rhythms, profoundly rooted in Africa, but opened to all genres.Stemming from the surprising complexity of his latest release " Kù Jazz” appears the simplicity of African Jazz Dance that that leads one to feel music, all musics and nothing but music….
