BRICKWERK is a side project for Mike Ward of Longstone and Kev Fox of Ninety Degrees South. It is both a recording and performing unit that alows us to explore musical styles and sound creation that may or may not overlap with our other bands.
We happily utilise found and natural sounds and randomly aquired old equipment along side home made or converted electronic sound making gadgets to add to the range of instrumentation available.
The new Brickwerk album is in the shops now in the U.K. distributed by Proper. It can also be ordered online from the usual outlets but if you wish to support a genuine indpendent music store you can order from the following link for prompt world wide shipping
Ochre records also sell the CD via eBay.co.uk , will ship worldwide and accept Paypal.
Longstone / Brickwerk 's long time sax/ bass clarinet player and good friend Chris Cundy is currently touring and recording with the Guillemots. This has lead to a recent live colaboration with the fantastic multi instrumentalist and theremin king, M C Lord Magrao of the Guillemots, mixing the the ambient electronics of Brickwerk/longstone with the improvised sax of Mr Cundy and the impressive array of M C's effects and theremin with awesome results. It is hoped that more of these live collaborations will happen soon and studio sessions are being talked about .... watch this space!
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers and Henry Priestman.
One of the highlights of the Vortex London Jazz Festival – TIME OUT
Featuring Fyfe Dangerfield (from Guillemots), Gannets posit an alternative jazz history in which 30's swing developed straight into a combined form of the free jazz and fusion movements, without any of the intervening decades.
Fyfe Dangerfield - keyboards + electronics
Alex J Ward - clarinet
Christopher Cundy - bass clarinet
Dominic Lash - double bass
Steve Noble - drums
