"The New Hampshire based Brickyard Blues band has been a longtime
staple of the New England music scene and after listening to their new CD
Naughty it's easy to see why. Guitarist-singer Brian James is the heart &
soul of the band and pens most of Brickyard's material on this CD along with
singer-keyboardist Alan Rosen. Drummer Willy Wiegler also contributes to the
group's songwriting giving Brickyard a distinct advantage and diversity in the
creative process. Inject the steady rumble of bassist Bernie Rozmovits and
raucous saxophone of Tom Hoctor and the Brickyard Blues package is a tidy blues
outfit capable of delivering with style and grace. Check out the band's tribute
to the late, great K.D. Bell on the song "Alabama Blues Man." The
album's title track "Naughty" is also a highlight on this well played
and recorded album." — Metronome Magazine, January 2006 --
"The song Alabama Blues Man has some of the most memorable lines
in it. I found myself singing along with the song and could hear the chorus in
my head for hours afterwards. (Please make it stop, I need room for other
songs.) One of the things that I really loved was the control that is exercised
on the guitar work. The artist does an awesome job of keeping the "Million
Note per Minute" just barely under the surface. The Brickyard will truly
rock for years to come." — Pat Gervais, Host of "The Blues
Cafe" on WRSW 103.7 FM, Warsaw, IN --
"Naughty is a great name for this CD because this is some of best down
and dirty blues you'll ever hear." — John Guregian, Host of
"Blues Deluxe" on WUML 91.5 FM, Lowell, MA --
"Awesome. This CD is freakin' unbelievable." — Barry Smith,
Executive Director, New Boston Blues Association --
Alabama Blues Man was picked as the New Blues Favorite Song by Smokestack
Lightnin' Blues Radio on WUCF 89.9 FM in Orlando, FL July 2, 2005.
The Brickyard Blues are not just another blues band. Sure, we play blues...
like BB King, Albert King, T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy, and even Stevie Ray
Vaughan. Then we add classic dance tunes from the Motown and Stax record labels,
as well as R&B favorites as recorded by the Blues Brothers and The
Commitments. We even mix it up with the hot rod energy of Brian Setzer and Eddie
Cochran. In addition, we perform original tunes that range from jazzy ballads to
outright rockers. It's the blues plus a whole lot more.
