Tim Gaze & THE GROOVE brings together four of Australia's most seasoned musicians. Singer, Bridget O'Donoghue teaming up with legendary guitarist Tim Gaze to present a powerful union of great Australian talent. Bridget, Tim, Gary Broadhurst (Bass) & Jon Carson (Drums) have enjoyed playing together over the years in various bands and with the recent birth of Tim Gaze & THE GROOVE, playing a combo of hard edged blues and get down grooves they've been thrilling their dedicated legion of fans.
Bridget O'Donoghue - Vocals
Born into a family of musicians ( her parents were both principal singers with the Doyle Carte Opera Company,) Bridget has been around music all her life.
By the age of fifteen, she was extensively involved in the Sydney studio scene and soon became one of Sydney and Melbourne’s top session singers, being the voice behind numerous Coke & Levis commercials and various station I.D.’s. She also provided backing vocals for many bands including The Angels, Daryl Braithwaite & The Lime Spiders.
Bridget was entrenched in the Sydney live music scene thoughout the 70’s & 80’s fronting various R&B bands around the legendary venues of Kings Cross. She was the voice of popular Sydney outfit ‘ Fat Time’ and toured nationally with Joe Cocker & Carlos Santana. Her performances spanned across to theatre singing in the original production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar,’ the black musical ‘ The Wiz’ and ‘ The Aunty Jack Show’ with her brother Rory.
Moving to Brisbane in ’89, Bridget continued working in the session scene and has been involved in recording projects with filmmakers & musicians Teone & Steve Reinthal. She has recently had the pleasure of teaming up with Tim Gaze and along with Jon Carson ( who also played in Fat Time )
Tim Gaze – Guitar and Vocals
Tim has had a diversified and demanding career, both here and overseas, working ‘live’ and recording with artists like Tamam Shud, Kahvas Jute, Russell Morris, Stevie Wright, Renee Geyer, The Hoochie Coochie Men with Jon Lord of Deep Purple, Tim Gaze & The Swell, and more recently toured both here and overseas with Australian singing legend Jimmy Barnes.
Tim has worked with many acts since the ‘70’s and has a rich blues and surf music history.
He has also written and produced many songs, albums and soundtracks.
Jon Carson (JC) – Drums and Vocals
Jon Carson a.k.a. JC started his pro music career at the tender age of 15 answering an advert for a sales/teaching job at “Drum Land”. JC played in many successful Brisbane bands thru the 70’s and 80’s including “Bootlace”,“Mighty Mouse”, “Aussie Rebels” (with Tim Gaze and Barry Tiplady) and “Big Red” just to name a few. He worked as a session muso and taught throughout these years as well. He traveled south to Sydney in the mid 80’s where he joined “Fat Time”, with Bridgette O’ Donohue on vocals, and also toured with Gloria Loring and after a few Oz tours, was asked to join the hit band ‘1927’, their song ‘What About Me’ being a huge success.
JC returned to Brissy in 1990 playing with the Dave Ritter Band and the resident drummer at “Someplace Else”. Putting music on the backburner to raise his two children, JC rejoined the fold in 2006 with Tim and Bridget, where his great drumming and vocals are a main feature.
Gary Broadhurst - Bass
Gary Broadhurst started his musical career early, having played guitar and then bass . South American Latin music was played at home and has had an obvious influence . Notable experience included 4 to 5 years studio sessions , the Brisbane theatrical showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Rialto , and the Carol Lloyd Band. This band toured nationally, had two number one singles locally , album released in France and Sweden and played on the same billing as Little River Band, The Angels and Renee Geyer. He has also played in support bands for The Doobie Bros, Peter Allen and Kevin Borich Express, Little River Band and Renee Geyer.
Experience in studio engineering/production and session work at Suite Sixteen and Sunshine Studios and Channel 7’s Jumbuck Productions further added to overall capabilities. Working in popular soul band Big City, and then with guitarist Ewan Mackenzie, and blues legend Wylie Reed, world music band Makonda then provided another African and Latin experience.
Extra and varied experience was with theatrical/recycled instrument troupes “Junkstaposition” and “Hubbub” and also with Blues Brothers show “The Fabulous Blues Boys”, which has performed across the country and overseas. Freelance band work has provided experience in styles ranging from blues reggae, latin, rock and jazz rock/fusion, to country, R&B and pop/top40.
Now also playing with Tim Gaze, the Santana Project – “On Fire”, and with upcoming Country artist Nellie Donovan and recently a 3 year “internship” with the only large Caribbean music group in Australia, “the Pantastic Steelpan Band” at corporate venues, including Melbourne Casino and various Festivals.

It's a tricky race because being a Half Ironman you can only swim using one arm and cycle on one wheel of your bike and then hopping for 21.1km is always a challenge.
