Bridgefield are an original five-piece band roaming the Buckinghamshire/North West London/North London borders. Their blend of Indie Rock/Pop which is written, recorded, mixed and produced at Bridgefield Studios in Princes Risborough, UK. Staff members are: Vacancy...although we hope Mandy Reilly will be our Vocals imminently!!!; John Woods, Guitar; Paul Stocker, Bass; Martin Kent, Keyboards; Dave Quinton - Drums; with Rosie Kent on backing vocals.
We've tried to categorise Bridgefield, but failed. There may be a pigeon hole somewhere for Bridgefield, but it's probably a weird shape.
Bridgefield has been writing as a unit, for a while, performing in and around London at such spots as: The Garage in Highbury, The Half Moon in Putney, The Rock Garden, The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, Gossips in Soho, Last Rockers at Camden Lock, The White Horse and the Red Lion in Wycombe and The Horn in St.Albans.
The band's latest release, "Give You More" has just hit the web and is a powerful ten track catalog of the band's latest output. A breathtaking balance of power pop and soulful balladry. Sample all tracks at Indie Store, you might just like it.
Press Comment:
Each song shows the depth of their feelings and oozes potentialits so scrummy you just want the experience to go on and on. Rachel Wakefield Bucks Free Press
'Drop your jaw as their guitarist slams on his gangly, feedback driven, super-duper overdrive pedal and gives us what we are looking for in the "Slaying Ground".The fingers fly across the fret board in some of the most flamboyant rock solos I've heard in ages Yipppeee.... try and catch this band when they play near you' - Tim Bearder BBC Radio Oxford.
'Not only do they have the look, and the sound, but an unrivalled energy to match.....a refreshing new band - Stuart Robb Jam Central Records. BRIDGEFIELD ARE:
Looking like Mandy Reilly is going to take up Vocals....more to follow John Woods: Guitars Lead guitarist of outstanding virtuosity. Woody has fully developed his own distinctive choppy style. Apart from being one of the best live guitarists around youre ever likely to see, he has an unnerving ability in the studio both as guitarist/producer and also as a truly gifted songwriter with an uncanny ability to tap into the commercial mainstream, whilst at the same time refusing to take the safe route in any particular songs direction! All he wants from life is to get onto the main stage at Glastonbury and strut his stuff oh and to maybe sell a few CDs!
Paul Stocker: Bass
Paul got more or less the entire portfolio of songs under his belt in 4 weeks flat...difficult to believe, but nonetheless true...a quite remarkable achievement from a quite remarkable bass player. Having been blooded at the Civic in Aylesbury in April 2007, the gigs are rolling in now, so make sure you come along to catch Paul wielding his bass sometime soon.
Martin Kent: Keyboards
Mart is the Player/Manager; handling the promo aspects of band life. He is also a major contributor (together Woody and Tola) to the bands written material. Not surprisingly, he leans toward material that is keyboard dominated; counting Muse, Cooper Temples, Radiohead, Athlete and Coldplay among his influences. But he harbours a closet fascination for crunchy, grungey and downright filthy guitar passages which , compositionally, he seeks to wedge in, surreptitiously, alongside his keys. His predilection for bands such as Muse and Elbow have a marked affect on his creative output. Mart has played piano from the age of six. Got into band music about 10 years ago via his original band, Tar. As that drew to its conclusion he struck up a playing partnership with Woody, and Bridgefield was born out of the ashes of Woody's original band, Backster. Thick pads, Leslies and lead arpeggiated synth and piano sequences sum up his style and incredible ability.
Dave Quinton: Drums, Percussion
Dave is no stranger to Bridgefield having thumped the tubs for the band 5 or so years ago. In the intervening period Dave has played with a succession of highly rated covers bands, but has decided to re-don the creative mantel and re-join Bridgefield to play some original rock. He is a very welcome returnee.
Rosie Kent: Backing Vocals
Completing the lineup we have young Rosie Kent taking up the mantle of backing vocals. Bridgefield is the first project with which Rose has become involved...not surprising, given her tender age. She has worked incredibly hard to nail down the harmonies and they sound great!!Having already notched up her first few performances with the band she is growing in confidence all the time and is adding the finishing touches to a quality Bridgefield show.
