Groups: "A True Creative Artist's Group: Outreach Group"
Modigliani
Art History
Frida Kahlo
Mark Rothko
Wassily Kandinsky
Juan Miro
Paul Klee are some of my favorites
Of course I have many contemporary favorites now.
I like to talk about art, read about art, thriftstores, going out for coffee, walking, fresh air, meeting interesting people, listening to good music,
I volunteered and taught English as a second language to children and adult students from Cuba, Russia, Vietnam
Music
anything good; really into gypsy jazz/swing at the moment. There's a big movement in Portland regarding the resurgence of the 1920'-1940's music.
RHCP, STP, Miracle Workers, Moody Blues, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Doors, Patti Smith, Dylan, It's a Beautiful Day, Three Dog Night, early Rod Stewart and Faces, Led Zep, jazz, Sir Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, chill-out, instrumentals, Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Rachmaninoff, TOO MANY TO LIST
Movies
Anything by Hitchcock, Kubricks, Charlie Chaplin, Fellini, Orson Welles, Ingmar Bergmann, Scorsese, Woody Allen, David Lynch; anything with DeNiro, Alan Rickman ("Truly, Madly, Deeply"); foreign, independent, "Sunset Blvd.", other old classics, anything with Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, and more
Television
no thanks
Books
Mostly art books and art journals; Gabriel Garcia Marquez ("One Hundred Years of Solitude," David McCullough (1776, John Adams, Truman), Franz Kafka, Kurt Vonnegut, Russell Martin ("Beethoven's Hair"), Sherlock Holmes, Thoreau, Emerson, Walden, poets William Blake, John Donne; photography books "Annie Liebowitz" and more
Heroes
God, Dali Lama, Jesus Christ, John Lennon, Patti Smith, Barack Obama, my family, my close friends; people who are humble, kind, have a strong sense of themselves; my Norwegian Grandmother, who was very loving, giving and kind and taught me the value and appreciation of good literature, art, food, and even when I was a child paid for my art classes at the Portland Art Museum and piano and swimming lessons at Reed College because we were poor; and my Great Aunt Adah who taught me the Charleston, to appreciate Julia Child and French cooking, Friday night baked cheese and crackers while watching Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi movies next door at her house, and was the epitomy of LOVE! (she's was so much FUN!!!) (RIP Grandma and Adah -I will see you in heaven one day); those that help the homeless, my sister, Greta, having raised 3 children, including a disabled son to the age of 26 as a single parent. My 3 children, Robbin and Christal (twins) and Brandon of whom I am extremely proud; my extremely talented beloved, whom I adore, cherish and admire for his honesty, integrity, creativity, genius and gifts of many arts.
I admire people who show grace, compassion, self-control and humility by example.
And I admire people who suffer in pain or disease because they have an inner knowing about what it is to sense mortality, enjoy beauty in its simplicity, their courage to just keep going; Frida Kahlo is one such hero and an inspiration but there are many others that I know that suffer.
My son Brandon, who is another hero and as a mother I miss him terribly. Though I don't agree with the war, my son is serving our country; he is a beautiful spirit and kind and gentle soul with a talent for art.

Kandinsky, Klee, Miro,
When I studied Art History and fine art in college I loved these artists the most, among many others (Modigliani, Picasso, Van Gogh, Frieda Kahlo, and more) but these artists made a clear impression on me. My love is for abstract expressionism.
A Poem from a Friend
When life is a forest
Each day is a tree
When life is a tree
Each day is a branch
When life is a branch
Each day is a leaf. "

a
french poem of Jean-Michel Maulpoix
"Emma aimait le bleu.
Celui des robes et des rubans que vendent les camelots de passage, ou des stores de soie que l’on tire aux fenêtres des calèches.
Celui qui recouvre les livres où l’on parle d’amour.
Celui que laisse dans la tête la musique après que l’on y a dansé.
Elle n’avait pourtant jamais vu la mer.
"

Happy Thanksgiving Day mom, daddy, and both of my sisters who are all in heaven....i lost them all tragically, so holidays for me help me remember the marvels of being together with my family, friends, and relatives. Needless to say, it was a rather colorful day....My mother and daddy use to make the VERY best stuffing.....(especially my daddy) and of course mine is just as good.... :O)~ I miss you diane, and sandra.....my sisters left me much too young....as did my parents....i know I am walking up this path to be with you all in heaven in due time....and we can all be together again and argue about who's going to taste the stuffing the most times! lol Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.....miss you mom, daddy, diane, and sandra....love, jackie
