Bio
New Album "Cardinal Signs" available on Bancamp @ briefawakening.bandcamp.com !!!!!! Book us at briefawakening@yahoo.com! Brief Awakening sounds like a tree of soulful songbirds with a message of equality swaying in an indie breeze but anchored in roots of folk and rock. Formed in September of 2008, brief awakening danced into the Boston local music scene playing numerous clubs and venues such as The Midway and The Middle East Upstairs. Unique instrumentation, complex song writing, dual-lead female vocals rich with harmony, and a grounding rhythmic force make brief Awakening stand out. Brief Awakening's sound has been compared to Belle and Sebastian, Billy Joel, Ani Difranco, The Cranberries, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Amos and everything in between. Brief Awakening is a member of local indie label Polk Records. Lyrical subjects range from the poetically personal to the fight for equality and justice for all people. The music of Brief Awakening is diverse and evolving as they continue to weave new elements into their tapestry of sound. Since 2009, Brief Awakening has been organizing a seasonal event called Goddess Fest which brings together musicians, poets, and artists to perform and celebrate women in the arts. PRESS: "[Brief Awakening's Goddess Fest] is lasting proof that all you need to make an evening is some great people in a great space, playing great music." J. Patrick Brown – The Weekly Dig "Brief Awakening's songs are energetic, positive, and driven with substantial depth behind each note and chord." "Short chick adjusting tuning pegs A self-proclaimed guitar with legs She mixes styles like scrambled eggs That taste a bit like bliss Now Cue Kat's keys and drop a beat As melodies rise like wheat in heat It's honeybee orgasm sweet What a treat to witness this" ~Jeff Savlon
