   About Brigadier Ambrose
Brigadier Ambrose are from Chatham, though Chatham doesn't realise it. They make music they enjoy, and hope others like it too. To their amusement, some people actually do.

The band formed in late 2005, and set about making sillyness and noise. So far, they have had a lot of fun. Early radio airplay for songs 'Police' and 'Chatham Hill' from Huw Stephens (BBC Radio One), Stuart Maconie (BBC Six Music) and Phill Jupitus (BBC Six Music) quickly led to a debut single release, 'How Popular You Are'. This was released in April to widespread and led to a whole lot more radio airplay nationwide - soon followed by three BBC radio sessions. 2007's highlight was a session from the John Peel Maida Vale studio for BBC Radio One and the splendid Huw Stephens. The band also played a blistering evening set for BBC Radio One at Suffolk's Latitude festival, a performance all the more dogged when you learn that they survived a potentially fatal crash with a juggernaut on the motorway on the way there. The set was later also broadcast on Radio One.

A couple of blistering performances at Alan McGee's seminal Death Disco cemented Brigadier Ambrose's live status. More interestingly, the band have turned down 2 record deals so far this year and currently continue to release their material through their own Brigadier Records. Though pleased with their success, Brigadier Ambrose tend to shy away from the standard things certain bands expect.

Second single 'Decembered' was released late 2007 to an almighty critical whoop, gaining lots of national airplay (Radio One, Radio Two, XFM, BBC 6 Music) and also being nominated for single of the week on Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie's Radio Two show.

Third single 'Mrs Peel We're Needed' was listed as one of Radio One's TIPS FOR 2008. They tip well, and we tip our hat to them in return. 2008 saw many festival appearances up and down the land, as well as tours for BBC Introducing and high profile London gigs. This was followed up with the release of their 4th single, 'Police', in September 2008

The band are currently recording an album which will be released in 2009. Brigadier Ambrose have all but retired from playing live though, simply because they don't enjoy it. And if you don't enjoy it, you shouldn't do it. Something you may enjoy, though, is buying the band's music - this can be done on iTunes, HMVdigital.co.uk, Virgin Digital, Napster, E-Music, 7 Digital, Wippet....etc. Just have a browse and see what you find.

Good to meet you, Mr Goggin. Your set for Oxjam last night was excellent, and the Scott Walker cover was stylish indeed.
