Tudo começou em ´96. A seguir das aulas íamos para casa de amigos e passávamos as tardes a conversar e a mixar. Eu sempre gostei, e ouvi Hip hop. Comprei os meus primeiros pratos em ´98 e comecei a scratchar e a praticar muito em casa. Era difícil porque o material era muito frágil e sensível e então tinha de ter uma grande sensibilidade, porque senão aquilo saltava logo ^^. Depois comprei os technics, comecei a dominar a (técnica de modelar ou deturpar o som que é produzido num gira-discos) scratchar, ou como lhe preferem chamar, o prato. Quando arrasto o disco para frente e para trás em movimentos rápidos com a ponta dos dedos, a melodia altera-se, emitindo um grito ou um gemido, a batida quebra-se ou pára em suspance. De repente explodem os ritmos que entram em loop. Começo um solo de scratch a brincar com um berro de uma mulher negra, como se fosse uma trompete bêbeda. Acelero o ritmo com o cross-fader da mesa de mistura. Para a maioria, isto é barulho. Para alguns, como para este scratcher, o turntablism requer grande domínio técnico e prática, mas os frutos que se colhem deste instrumento musical são preciosos. Mas o que é afinal o turntablism? Dj Poison: O turntablism tem várias técnicas: o scratch, o beat juggling, o jogo de palavras- que é usares discos de rap, cortares e montares as frases dos rappers e assim contas uma história. Normalmente isto é feito ao vivo, em dois, quatro minutos. O scratch tem em si imensos tipos de scratches, de cortes, de técnicas. Beatjuggling consiste em utilizares dois discos e fazeres um ritmo através desses dois discos, que podem ser iguais ou não, e assim crias um ritmo diferente. Para mim, aquilo em que acredito mais é que um prato, uma mesa de mistura e um disco são um instrumento. Nós tocamos, temos notas, estamos dentro ou fora do tom. Dizem que os djs utilizam músicas já tocadas. Não é verdade; a maior parte dos discos que utilizamos são feitos por djs como nós: fazem discos de propósito para outros dj scratcharem. O scratch é uma verdadeira arte como outro qualquer tipo de música porque ao criamos sons, mandarmos imprimir num vinil e depois ao scratchar esses sons, estamos a fazer o nosso instrumento. I bought my first Turntables in ' 98 and started to scratch and practice hard. It was difficult because the Turntables were very fragile and sensible i had to have the great sensitivity, because the neddles were always skiping and jumping ^^. soon Later bought technics, I started the domination (shape technique of or manipulate the sound that is produced in Turntables) to scratch. When drag the record for front and stops backwards in fast movements with the tip of the fingers, the melody gets excited, emitting an shout or a moan, the stroke breaks or stops in suspance. Suddenly the rhythms blow up that enter in Loop. Start alone one scratch to play with one I bawl of a black woman, as a drunk trompete. I speed up the rhythm with cross-fader of the mixer. For the majority, that is racket. For some, as this scratcher, Turntablism requires great domain practical technician, but the fruits that are harvest of this musical instrument are precious. But what is after all Turntablism? Dj Poison: Turntablism has several techniques: scratch, beat juggling, the game of words that is you will use records of rap, you will cut and mount the phrases of rappers and thus accounts a history. Normally that is made to the living creature, in two, four minutes. Scratch has in itself immense types of scratches, cuts, techniques. Beatjuggling consists of using two records and to make a rhythm through these two records, that can be equal or not, and thus you create a different rhythm. For me, to that where I believe more is that a plate, a table of mixture and a record are an instrument. We touch, have notes, are in or of the tone. They say that djs uses Made Music already. It is not truth; most of the records that we use is made by djs as we: they make records of intention for others dj to use. Scratch is a true ART as another one any type of music because to it we create sounds, to order to print in a vinyl and later to scratch these sounds, we are to make our instrument. this instrument, at least for me, have infinite possibilities.
