9/6/09 - We have been getting an AMAZING response from You Shine So Bright! AbsolutePunk.net recently made us an Unsigned Exclusive and posted an incredible review of our debut release! Read the whole thing here! Here's a couple highlights...
"...the kind of collection that makes one believe in the power of music."
"...triumphant, monster of an album"
"A and R reps would be smart to take a gander at Brighter Shades, there is something wholly convivial and cheerful about this music, and the stadiums of the world seem just a few short breaks from hearing it."
Remember, we're giving this album away for FREE! So spread the word; tell your friends, family, neighbors, classmates, teachers, and even that creepy dude that comes into your work. Creepers like music too...
7/12/09 - hey all! sorry if we have been under ground these past few months, we have been very busy recording our new record You Shine So Bright, which we are very excited about! personally, on many levels, I can't help but feel that it pretty accurately documents how I and we have changed over the past year and a half that we've been doing this, sonically, lyrically, contextually, spiritually, honestly. this is an extension of me, and i hope that in listening you might find things that extend into you. feel free to download it from the internet somewhere or from a friend if you are curious, if you enjoy it please share it with your friends and family! for a band of our stature your referral is oxygen. if you want to support us, buy a cd (with real life endangered cd quality audio!) or come to a show. most importantly, if you dig what we're doing, tell us!

3/16/09 - we have posted a new song, layout, photos, shirt in the merch store, and video pertaining to how we hand make said shirts with love! It has been a long time coming, we're terrible about staying current but it was time for some CHANGE. we're in the midst of recording a song called "Pick a Day" you may see that pop up here soon. we're also writing and recording a handful of songs to be compiled in a disc format for official release sometime in the fall perhaps... more on this later. If you're in baltimore we have shows coming up that you don't want to miss, especially if you enjoy drink specials and ear pleasure : l - trevor

..Hey Everyone!
Welcome back to What The Blog?! This is your chance to get to know us, Brighter Shades, at our most intimate, raw and uncensored!
I (Matt) have never been one for internet dating. In fact, I always found it a bit ridiculous and somewhat creepy. But with its growing popularity, and the constant bombardment of e-Harmony and Match.com commercials during my favorite TV shows, I have to admit I got a little bit curious.
One boring afternoon I decided to sign up for e-Harmony just to see who they thought would be right for me (I wasn’t actually planning on meeting anybody…of course). Little did I know I would be sitting at my computer for the next 2 hours and 23 minutes filling out the incredibly lengthy questionnaire. Upon completing the form, I went to bed with what I now realize was a false sense of accomplishment.
The next night I checked my email, and to my delight, I had received a message from e-Harmony. I quickly opened the message to find that it was nothing less than a f***ing rejection letter. That’s right… of all of the millions of people on e-Harmony, they were unable to find ANYONE to suit me! FML.
Anyway, this experience, in addition to the fact that I am flat broke, gave me a GREAT idea! Starting today, I will be available through the Brighter Shades Merch Store for a romantic evening out on the town!

well thats cool. oh and I hate rain.... my day went like this. I got up from bed got ready for school, went to school and saw my friend Becca. she told me that she didnt like this guy anymore, because of something he said. and then I went to class EWWW.. and then I saw the guy I like and then. well theres more about school but who cares.. and then I came home and went outside. and then called my sister to see if I could go to her house tonight and I get to and now Im talking to you.
thanks so much for your comment. it really cheered me up :) you're totally right about valleys and hills... i used to write a diary when i was younger (actually i still have one but i don't write much now), and when i read it again i'm always stunned by how i can be so happy one day and depressed on the following days. but yea it seems that experiencing bad times makes you enjoy happy ones more, i guess what's important is not to lose hope when you're in one of those valleys...
