"Time Line Fever" - A continuing history of our band.
Oct '03 - Nov '05: In this span of two years Primitive Bright Light Fever forms
and plays its first shows around Placerville at assorted Veterans Halls and
Community Centers, completes recordings (in the most rudimentary sense) of
about 10 songs (an ongoing source of shame for original members), and somehow draws label interest. These were also "the party years".
Jan '06: Sign to Stolen Transmission/Island/Def Jam
Jan '06: Erroneously told everyone we're going on our first tour
March '06: Erroneously told everyone that we were recording this month
April '06: Actually Recorded our first official album "The Evening Owl" @ the Hanger with Joby Ford and Floss The Boss over the course of three weeks, ignorantly wasting thousands of dollars on stupid things
May? '06: Flipper, our E-350 Super Duty Van joins the band
August '06: Actually do first tour ever with Showbread and Paulson
Tuesday, October 24, 2006: Release of The Evening Owl, which after a long
and troublesome series of events, is deemed a "failure".
Nov '06: Evening Owl loses distribution
Jan '07: First trip to New York, pretty much the best thing to ever happen
while on Stolen Transmission - secretely video taped private showcase
for Island/Def Jam Big Wigs like Jay Z, LA Reid, Etc
March '07: Second Tour - to SXSW, the one and only time we've used a trailer,
also the only time we've been in Texas, and there's a reason for that.
May '07: Independently filmed Papas Got a Brand New Liver video in the
forests near the Suave estate. It has since been removed from youtube by Island/Def Jam.
June '07: Complete third west coast tour w/ 1090 Club, it is on this tour that Flipper becomes a TURBO E-350 Super Duty Van
July '07: Dropped from Stolen Transmission
Aug -Sept '07: Complete 4th west coast tour w/ EKUK/Bridges/1090,
Flipper broke down in Wyoming en route to the first show, in Billings, Montana.
While waiting extra days in Billings for van repairs, "The Montana Demos" are
recorded in a friends house.
Nov '07: Inglorious return to Placerville for a show to fund the upcoming:
Nov - Dec '07: Complete our first coast to coast tour, which would also have
ranked as our first successful tour, had we not spun Flipper on the frozen,
treacherous Interstate 80 in Wyoming (again), after completing the final show of the tour. (Note to self, do not attempt to drive from Denver to Sacramento at midnight after playing a show when its snowing)
Feb '08: After having 2 of the largest bands to ever come from our area totally chode out on previously arranged studio time, we called in every favor we'd accrued, borrowed a ton of equipment, and were able to record "Red Hands in Holy Water", our second full length recording, in the comfort of the Ferro family home.
June '08: Self release Red Hands in Holy Water, eventually putting it up for
free download, we like to think of it as a success. Aside from that, months are
wasted on empty promises and overall snakery by outside parties.
Nov '08: Complete our 6th tour, self-booked and our only tour of the year,
its officially the first successful outing (meaning we didnt lose money).
Jan '09: Reuinited with Joby Ford, we record The Meat Market EP at Big Game Lodge in Van Nuys, CA in 1 week, which went on to give massive boners to all involved
March '09: Bring in our good friend Crispin to play 3rd guitar, keys, percussion
and samples - his first shows with the band will be our upcoming tour to the midwest and back
June '09: Head out on another tour to the midwest with good friends
By Sunlight. Turns out to be the most brutal run in our career as an independent touring band. Highlights include: First run in with the law in Arizona, Hitting a deer on hwy 80 near omaha going aprox 70mph, 8 out of 12 shows pay nothing.
June '09: Crispin finds out life in Bright Light Fever "ain't all its cracked up
to be" and decides to step down gracefully. We love ya buddy.
July '09: Booking next tour - slated for October. HAHAHAHA - Nevermind.
Sept 10th 2009: Bright Light Fever play their final show together.
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side. "-H.S.T.
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?'
Dudes...I was having such a good day untill I heard about you guys deciding to give it away as I was listening to your music. Had hoped you may have come over to Australia with The Bronx at some point ( We freakin love The Bronx down here) as I think people would get your music as we do theres. Anyway stay mates and if I stumble across a heap of cash in the next year i'm bringing you guys over for a festival (you will have to reform of course).
The fact that i'm from New Zealand and dig your music is an achievement in itself...keep on keeping on guys
