Kevin Lankford was exhausted by the “Hey, wanna be in my band?’ world. So he seized control of his destiny and totally exposed himself! Artistically. Financially. Personally. Very personally. (Easy there.)

And so, BrightLights! was born in the summer of 2008, with Kevin still a tender sixteen. No money, no car, no job – but some excellent threads and really, really sweet hair. Born to be a musician!

Kevin has been cranking out tunes for years. Writes his own stuff. Plays all the instruments. Sings both lead and back-up vocals. Still can’t scream, but he’s over it. He’s great on piano, very good on vocals, good on guitar, and a wanna-be drummer (*sigh*).

In the early years, Kevin recorded and mixed all his own stuff, and recorded all his own loops for live performances. But now, thanks to his beautiful benefactor Beau Brammer, Luis Dubuc (The Secret Handshake), and the amazing Caleb Shomo (Attack Attack), BrightLights! Has a full-length album where he DIDN’T have to do EVERYTHING himself! Kevin says, “you can’t believe how amazingly awesome it is to not have to provide all the equipment, know how to use everything, mix and attempt to master it all by myself!”

Kevin’s done the local show thing – coffee houses, church, talent shows, the Basement, the Newport, the “where are we? Is that really the stage??? While trying to figure out "the BrightLights! sound" , Kevin began to see a need in the musicians and listeners around him. People needed a break from all the depressing negativity all around them. He developed a strong desire to spread some happiness and bring some smiles to those he could touch. The music started to write itself. He began to fall in love with his newly developed sound – and audiences loved it! Something was definitely going on.

Kevin and BrightLights! experimented with a variety of styles and venues including, indie, hardcore, industrial, screamo (just to name a few =] ), before landing with a solid Electronic/pop sound. Don't question it, it sounds awesome and he loves what he does! lol.

Look for BrightLights! to be touring in early 2010, until then buy his new single "Cute Boyfriend" (out on iTunes in January!)
