THE STORY: Hi, my name is Jamie. In 2001 I put out benefit releases for a DIY Club/youth center in Louisville, and suddenly a record label was born. While dancing pleather clad at a party in Raleigh, NC on new year's eve while on tour with one of the bands on the label, bright orange hair flying all around me like a halo, the nickname "Brightskull" was born for me. I soon thereafter changed the label name to Brightskull never looked back. It made sense to me, naming the label after a nickname given to me by one of the bands on it. This label to me is a testament to the creative potential, the passion, and the drive for change that many of the people I love contain within them, people that touch me in a way beyond their music.
I don't limit myself to any particular style of music when choosing bands for the label, what concerns me is the feeling behind it. I like bands that are passionate in their beliefs and their art. Brightskull is a DIY punk label, and always will be, but don't be surprised if one release is a screamo record, the next a gritty pop punk record, and the next an electroclash dance record. Variety is the spice of life.
This label is run by Jamie , with moral support from Allyson and Jacob, and is a part of SKULL ALLEY.
