Born in Italy a while back to Turkish/British parents, raised in Monaco, moved to London 10 years ago and been sharing the joys of music and life with some beautiful people. The fact that I am French is a pure myth.
My new album Flying Dreams has now been released on F-IRE and distributed by Proper. You can get it from my website www.brigitteberaha.com (paypal) or from itunes, www.amazon.co.uk, www.jazzcds.co.uk, and CD baby. The album is all original material and features the amazing Joe Auckland on trumpet & fluegelhorn and the ridiculous Ivo Neame on piano, the incredible Phil Donkin on double bass and the superhuman George Hart on drums.
We promoted the album in the trio format during a 20 date tour of the UK with the addition of the incomparable Paul Clarvis on one gig.. The whole thing was an unforgettable experience, second mammoth tour in two years and even better than the first one... We got a little more money too, as it was supported by Jazz Services and The Arts Council, but I'm sure that's got nothing to do with it.. Currently coming up with new ideas for some new material...we'll see where it takes us!
Uploaded tunes on this page:
"Danse avec Moi": a tune I wrote, featuring the Brigitte Beraha Group.
"Sunlight on Your Face" and "May Chill": Two of my tunes featuring my trio.
"In Love in Vain" and "I Loves You Porgy": Two Jazz Standards from Prelude to a Kiss, featuring the one and only Barry Green (actually there's that other one that tends to over shadow him that wrote a book, and yet another piano player also called Barry Green I stumbled across on itunes who was playing some very funny smooth jazz.. unless...)
Here is what a few people have said:
"Rich imagery, harmonic surprises and subtly crafted arrangements can be found in 'Flying Dreams'. Within her song structures, Beraha switches seamlessley between text and wordless vocalisation, effectively becoming a fifth instrumentalist often acting in unison or counterpoint with Auckland. Standouts include the floating reveries of 'Deja-Vu, In a Dream', the gorgeous melodic sensibility of 'Sunlight On your Face' and the leftfield 'Danse Avec Moi' Jazzwise, November 2008
"Brigitte's voice and writing have truly matured to another soaring level" Rufus Reid
"A Fine Composer" Kenny Wheeler
"Despite the similarity in their names and the fact that both are trios, Azymuth and Azimuth are very different. The former, one of Brazil's biggest exports, are samba party animals; the latter represent the best in English chamber jazz refinement. Yet, by an odd coincidence, London-based singer Brigitte Beraha's trio manages to call both of these to mind. Her group shares the same vocals, trumpet and piano line-up as Azimuth and when their singing and playing flow they achieve a quality of sound that puts them in the same ball park". The Herald
"Brigitte is someone who concentrates on the music's core values: imagination, individuality, improvisation." Jazz Review
"If sheer talent were the only ingredient needed for success in music, Brigitte would already be up there with the stars. She has a tremendous future to explore, one which well be watching with great expectations." Dame Cleo Laine and John Dankworth CBE
"...Divinely sung solos from Brigitte Beraha..." The Guardian
"Ms Beraha has made an album that really stands out of the crowd" Jazzwise
