Diversely styled modern-classic rock with soulful rhythm and blues harmonies, big crisp rhythm sections and up-tempo pop melodies.
Last year, Raleigh-based group Brite Boy self-released an EP called Peartree Sessions, a selection of songs from the band’s 2007 spring rehearsals. Peartree Sessions is available worldwide with digital distribution on iTunes, Rhapsody, and more than 100 other download sites. These tracks represent a sample of over 30 written songs the group has been performing live during the last two-and-a-half years. Sessions features three songs produced by John Custer, the rest of the record being compiled by the band and producer Merritt Partridge.
With chameleon drummer Tony Williams and rhythm guru percussionist Abdala Saghir, the EP features early-era Brite Boy tunes fashioned by guitar-songing frontman Ross and bassist/songwriter Palmer. With leading style, singer/songwriter Brandy Tanner performs hits like “Crumbling” and lends signature R&B harmonies to the record. The addition of guitarist and keyboard/vocalist Richard Flickinger creates a rock sound never heard before.
The band is making things happen in 2008. Constantly writing, the band is gigging with new songs while recording a full-length record with noted producer David McConnell. The latest works bolster new dimensions. Listeners anticipate fresh tunes crafted by troubadors Tanner and Ross blended with edgy contrasted songwriting by Flickinger and Palmer. Focused complimentary styles make a library of rock n’roll with a sound all together “impossible to pin down,” according to fans.
