Founded in 2004, The Broad Street Brass consists of current music majors and recent graduates from the McLean School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University. On October 26 of 2006, the Broad St. Brass performed for the National Conference for the Society of Composers, performing works by David Sartor and Mike D’Ambrosio. On January 23 of 2007, the Broad St. Brass had the privilege to perform in a masterclass for the world-renowned Boston Brass Quintet. Recently the Broad St. Brass traveled to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to participate in the Chamber Music Institute. The quintet had the honor to perform in a masterclass for the Chiara String Quartet and performed a world premiere of a work entitled Rhythm Management by Chris Burton. The Broad St. Brass also had the distinct pleasure of sharing the stage with tremendously talented student ensembles from the University of Michigan, Eastman School of Music, and The Julliard School. The B.S.B. have also been a featured ensemble at the First and Second Annual "Day of Music" at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, home of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. In addition to their studies, the Broad St. Brass works regularly in the Middle Tennessee area, performing church services, weddings, and concerts. Future plans for the quintet include earning Masters degrees in music and pursuing professional careers in performance.
