brody & quint's intimately scored melodies balance guitar, cello and vocal harmonies in a collection of wistful and engaging original songs, with a style which has been compared to the English folk/chamber pop tradition of iconic artists such as Nick Drake and Vashti Bunyan, as well as modern alt.folk groups such as James Yorkston and the Athletes. With music ranging from the poignant to the uplifting, the group capture how a moments reflection can bring beauty to darkness.
While performing in the bands The Peaches and Cuzco, Rosemary Harrison and Mark Barlow collaborated for the first time in 2003 on the song Live Now which received positive press and online reviews. They subsequently formed brody & quint to work together on acoustic music, joined shortly afterwards by Anna Brickles on cello. Debuting that summer at the 12 Bar Club in London, brody & quint were offered a spot on Nomad AM Records Compilation One by the end of the year for the song Spinning Drum. In 2004, the group secured national airplay on the Student Broadcast Network, and a live session on Londons Sound Radio, while playing 38 gigs through the year at venues including The Troubadour music club and the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London. In the summer the group were invited to play in Coventry at The Belgrade Theatre, in the 'summer sessions' festival organised by award-winning local creative collective Attenshun, in association with Fierce Panda records. Additionally, brody & quint played at the Chill on the Hill and Finfest festivals in London that summer.
Last year the group continued gigging extensively, playing at reputable London venues such as The Borderline and The Barfly, as well as being invited to take part in the Buzz Night new talent showcase at Bush Hall. In 2006 brody & quint were invited to play at Kingston Green Fair, the UKs largest one-day green event with an attendance of 15,000. In May the group issued their debut EP, Green Field, from which the song Summer Sun was selected as a featured track on the BBC collective music site. The group also embarked on two tours, playing at venues in Manchester, Sheffield, Bolton, Leeds and London, as well as a live session for Russell Walker on BBC Radio Leeds.

The Kittiwakes - CD Launch - Clerkenwell 22nd June
Leigh-on-Sea 3-piece, The Kittiwakes, celebrate the release of their Midwich Records debut, ‘Lofoten Calling’, a collection of original folk songs written about the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle and influenced by the traditional music of Norway and the British Isles.
'The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.' [LOSING TODAY]
'The Kittiwakes (rissa tridactyla): delicious, intriguing and evocative music, beautifully played and sung by this talented trio. Recommended to twitchers and lovers of folk music alike' [LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL]

They Came From The Stars I Saw Them www. myspace. com/theycamefromthestarsisawthem “One of the highlights of my year, without a doubt. Visionaries follow their muse regardless of the world around them and that couldn't be more true of they came from the stars I saw them... Numbering as many as 30 in the past, they've now trimmed down to a more manageable four-piece, but their music is still as astonishingly catchy as ever, somehow combining krautrock, space rock, free jazz, soul and funk into a pure pop concoction... with brilliant titles and wonderful, hypnotic singalong tunes.... ahead of their time... John Kennedy on XFM and in Dazed Confused

hi y'all..
got two last redbricks nights in november before the winter kicks in for real so try one of these out for one last look above ground before the hibernation begins...
our weekly monday run at the cedar room continues tonight with another impressive FREE line up that runs,
10.00 my summer as a a salvation soldier
9.15 dan clews
8.30 mary hepworth
lee gorton and friends will be playing records with the usual fine blend of fucked up folk and mellow psychedelia.
on thursday november 29th we've got our flagship 'down at the redbricks' night which has now established itself on the english maid, a boat on the thames, pretty much opposite the houses of parliament.
the venue's amazing and these gigs always feature our toughest redbricks line ups and this one's no different..
the moon music orchestra
the burning leaves
adam beattie
colorama
it's a fiver on the door, which is still a snip, but if you send us an email to theredbricks@hotmail.co.uk we'll put you and your friends on the £3.00 guest list.
hopefully see y'all soon..

Hey guys, just a quick word to say thanks so much for coming up for our launch. It was an amazing night, great atmosphere. Me and the guys were really moved by your set, it was something special. Your songs are amazing, for me, some of the best folk music I've ever heard, you piss all over Karine Polwart and she was amazing when I saw her! The balance is amazing between Mark and Anna's voices, so low, so high! And everytime the cello came in on a song, I just gasped. That's the only word for it, I was a gasper on every song.
howdy, here's what's coming up in the next month folks..
got the redbricks festival of folk on this sunday, 21st, at the amersham arms in new cross. the line up's changed a little as findlay brown has broke his leg, but i think the likes of pete molinari, the superimposers, john stammers, emma tricca, pete greenwood, luca and ain make for a pretty great FREE day out. starts abround 4, i heard a rumour about half price roasts too but don't quote me on it...
got this lot on for ya too..
the big bertha gig on the boat is a fiver but gimma shout if you want to get on the £3 guestlist.
cheers, the redbricks.. x
