Broken at Birth

Broken at Birth is a three-piece metal/rock band from Salisbury, North Carolina that began in the summer of 2009. Co-founders, Rob Featherstone and Rich Joseph began playing in a 10 ft. x 10 ft. storage room. They both brought different influences to the band. Some of Rob’s influences include: Tool, Alice in Chains and Days of the New. Rich’s influences include: Rush, Slayer and Led Zeppelin. In 2010, Ryan Lentz joined forces with Rob and Rich and “Broken at Birth” was officially born. Ryan’s influences include: Avenged Sevenfold, Static-X and Slipknot. All members of Broken at Birth share the same dedication and love of music. When they are not playing shows or practicing, they are writing new music. Rob has a very diverse style of playing the guitar and a wide range of vocal influences which give the band its unique sound. Rich brings a driving beat to the band with his all-around style of playing drums. Although Ryan has not played the bass for very long, he is a natural and has added a distinct sound to the band. Their first live show was at The Money in Rock Hill, SC on June 5, 2010. Since then they have played at venues such as, Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, NC, 315 Club in Salisbury, NC and private parties. The band won judge’s vote at the Battle of The Bands on August 19, 2010, and will compete to advance to the finals on September 15, 2010. The band has just completed a four song, self-titled debut EP. This EP combines their passion and intensity to create an explosive and melodic sound. Broken at Birth is excited about their future which includes upcoming shows at Tremont Music Hall, Jester’s Pub and The Cove Nightclub.
