Strategy (a.k.a. John Major) picked up a microphone aged 11, rocked youth clubs at 12, met Mikey Don from Krispy 3 at 16 and the future was written. The MC seed was planted and very soon a career began to sprout! Strategys talents were respected early on; his first guest appearance being alongside Roots Manuva on the Track Trade Study which featured on the LP From the Country. Joining forces with Konny Kon amoungst others, he joined up with legendary Mank hiphop supercrew the Microdisiacs and released material with them working from their base up north. He held down his residency at Manchesters renowned Eardrum sessions at Dry Bar for 2 years alongside Jenna G from Uncut (Then known as Future Cut) and featured on their track Broken English. So you can see where this is going.......
DRS toured the world courtesy of Goodlooking Records, finding fame on the Drum & Bass circuit and alongside Conrad was LTJ Bukems right hand man, as documented on Logical Progression level 2, 3, 4. Although he is still in demand (he regularly tours with Calibre and Marcus Intalex) he never felt like he was satisfying his talent and hunger to rock crowds. DRS was looking for something different. He met various promoters, took up mic duties and flexed his talents on Hip Hop through to Drum & Bass. It was through various residencies that he first met Strategy and the Broke'n'£nglish partnership was formed and cemented.
DRS and Strategy invited Konny Kon to join them on their weekly pirate radio show and through their live freestyles and choice cuts their Manchester following grew, and live bookings followed. In the short time since they have supported some of the biggest Hip hop acts from both sides of the Atlantic including GhostFace Killah, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Xzibit, Jurassic 5, Supernatural, The Beatnuts, Jeru the Damaja, Souls of Mischief, Q-Bert, Rhazel, Sian Supa Crew, Jehst, Rodney P & Skitz, Skinnyman, Taskforce and many many more. All of this with no releases!
A couple of releases under their belts brought more attention, with guest appearances on 1xtra with Rodney P & Skitz, Mr Scruffs Hotpot .. 103 and Radio 1s Worldwide show for Gilles Peterson. The boys have since had regular slots on 1xtra and had their mixtape "Terms&Conditions" voted the best mixtape of 2006 by the stations listeners. Their track "Tryin" also was voted second best track of 2006!
Slowly but surely the boys have been deservedly gaining recognition and a reputation for having one of the hottest live shows in the country, in june the boys were nominated by a panel from BBC Radio to play at the new BBC INTRODUCING stage at Glastonbury and were tipped as one of the best shows of the whole festival by Huw Stephens. Having released their debut album "Subject2Status" in 2007, things are looking good for the northern contingent.

"Shut up Shop" a short film by James Graham
.. width="425" height="350">....>
This is a short film by James Graham shot on Wilmslow road (the infamous "Curry mile"), Manchester.
It tells the story of a shop called "Kwik Save" which recently closed after 20 years of business and the effect this had on the local community.
If you have never been to, or know nothing about Manchester, this pretty much sums up what it is like and why we love it so much.
There are alot of funny moments in this short film, watch it!
