Emerging from the hippie-loving, beachfront town of Byron Bay, Australia, metalcore outfit Parkway Drive blasted out of serene surroundings touting a volatile blend of intricate metal riffing, punishing breakdowns, and hardcore's emotional tension.
Having signed an enviable overseas deal with indie giant Epitaph, they have spent a large part of the past year abroad.
The quiet confidence and lack of arrogance expressed by the band is what lies at the heart of Parkway's massive appeal not content with their status as the most awe-inspiring phenomenon Australian heavy music has yet seen, Parkway Drive have begun to make vast inroads overseas, spending most of their time abroad since the release of their second full length "Horizons".
"Every so often a metal album comes out that in decades to come will be held up as a classic from that era. There was Master Of Puppets by Metallica, Vulgar Display Of Power by Pantera, Reign In Blood by Slayer, Burn My Eyes by Machine Head and now, in 2007, add Horizions by Parkway Drive to that list as this is an album that will not only set the benchmark for metal albums to come, it will also turn Parkway Drive, quite rightfully, into one of the biggest metal bands on the planet." - planet-loud.com
