BROM BIOGRAPHY
American 'dark fantasy’ artist Gerald Brom was born on March 9th 1965 in Albany, Georgia. The son of an Army aviator, Brom spent his youth living in Japan, Hawaii, Alabama and Germany (he credits the experience for permanently warping his perception of life). From an early age he was obsessed with sketching and painting the weird, monstrous and beautiful (partially due to a barrage of Japanese animation as a small child), his creations spilling over any possible surface, including school desks.
Brom enrolled for two years at a technical commercial art school in Atlanta, Georgia, and at the age of twenty he started working professionally as a freelance commercial illustrator. By the age of twenty one he had two art representatives and was doing work for clients such as Coke, IBM, Columbia Pictures and CNN.
After working for four years in Atlanta, doing mostly product rendering, Brom was to the point of slitting a wrist, so he put together a fantasy portfolio between jobs and sent this off to TSR in the late 1980’s and was hired on a full time basis. He immediately introduced his personal vision to all the major worlds of TSR including Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft and the futuristic game Gamma World. He would spend the next three years creating the highly dramatic look and feel of the best selling Dark Sun world.
In 1993, after four creative years at TSR, Brom returned to the freelance market, this time to pursue his love of the bizarre and fantastic. Since that time he has been working feverishly on hundreds of paintings for every facet of the genre, from novels, role-playing games, comics and film. For the Dark Age collectible cards for Friedlander (FPG) over a period of two years he produced 135 paintings as well as serving as art director and co-creator, alongside FPG’s Luke Peterschmidt.
In 1994, Brom created his own collection of fantasy art trading cards, featuring 90 paintings as well as 5 metallic cards featuring the Silent Quintet.
He has been active in the 3D world as well, with a line of Brom fetish toys from Fewture and a series of bronzes and porcelain figures, pocket knives, daggers and pocket watches available from the Franklin Mint.
His visions have appeared in books by authors such as Michael Moorcock, Anne McCaffrey, R A Salvatore and Terry Brooks . . . role-playing games for TSR, White Wolf, FASA and Wizards Of The Coast . . . comics for DC, Chaos and Dark Horse . . . and computer games such as Doom II, Diablo II, Heretic. . . as well as many other projects including two art books and two illustrated novels (see books).
Brom’s artwork consists of literally hundreds of paintings ranging from traditional fantasy, to gothic fetishism, to delicately composed pieces of beauty.
Brom’s website (www.bromart.com) features information on the artist as well as a shop where you can purchase original paintings, limited edition signed prints and books.
Brom lives with his family in the Seattle area, Washington State, USA
He is constantly painting, writing and trying to reach a happy sing-along with the many demons dancing about in his head!

*A foul looking creature stumbles beneath the weight of its armor; a crude heavy spiked mace swinging front to back at its left hip. It looks to be a sickly thing with its tarnished crimson flesh pulled tightly over its cheek bones, its wirey figure that strains to keep itself aloft upon its double-jointed legs, and it looks to you with piercing yellow eyes aglow with menacing intent. Its visage is shadowed within a deep black cowl and from the depths of its shade protrude two curling black horns; like two miniature spires of doom. The creature stops before you and pounds a clawed fist to its blackened iron chest before it kneels in subservience.* "I come to pay my respects, Almighty Dark Father, and to offer my services to your shadowed cause. "

Well, I know a thing about contrition, Because I got enough to spare. And I'll be granting your permission, 'Cause you haven't got a prayer. Well I said hey, hey hallelujah, I'm gonna come on sing the praise. And let the spirit come on through ya, We got innocence for days!
Well, I think I'm gonna burn in hell, Everybody burn the house right down.
And say, ha What I wanna say Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, Kick me like a stray. Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave.
(S-I-N, I S-I-N S-I-N, I S-I-N S-I-N, I S-I-N S-I-N, I S-I-N)
You play ring around the ambulance, Well like you never gave a care. So get the choir boys around you, It's a compliment, I swear. And I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down, I wanna hear you sing the praise, I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down, We got innocence for days!
Well, I think I'm gonna burn in hell, Everybody burn the house right down.
And say, ha What I wanna say Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, Kick me like a stray. Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave.
You better run like the devil, 'Cause they're never gonna leave you alone! You better hide up in the alley, 'Cause they're never gonna find you a home! And as the blood runs down the walls, You see me creepin' up these halls. I've been a bad motherfucker Tell your sister I'm another Go! Go! Go!
And I said, say, What I wanna say Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, Kick me like a stray. Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave.
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man. Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man.
